Room not Ready

If we arrive at the resort early in the morning to check in and our room is not ready, what is the procedure? Do we have to check back in later or how will know when our room is ready? Will we get our rooms keys then or will be have to make another trip to Guest Services for them?

They give you a number to call from any disney phone to check on your room. They give you your key card, and if you have luggage, they put it in the room for you.You can go off to the parks or whatever.

They won't give you your room # unless it's ready. However, they will let you know what bldg or section you're staying at and what floor as well. When you get to your room, just touch the "luggage" botton and they will send the bags to your room.

We do this all the time. Just go and check in. You can drop off your luggage at that time if you prefer (we usually drive and keep everything in the car). You will get your resort key whenever you check in even if your room isn't ready. You'll be given a number to call back (we use our cell phone but you can use any Disney house phone). I usually call after 1:00 for the room number. Once your room is "cleared", your resort key will be activated for everything. No need to go back to the front desk at all. The resort key will even open up the security gates at the front of the resort after you have your room number. My son said it was "magic".

A question if you are on the MYW dining plan: If you get your key but not your room number, is the dining plan activated right away, or not until you get assigned a room? Thanks for any help!

I would think it will be activated even if the room is not ready. Our room is not ready and our ticket is activated. We can roam in any parks even if the room is not ready.

We are driving and have an electronic cooler. If the room is not ready is there a place that the cooler can be plugged in?
