Hello I have a chronically ill adult daughter who suffers from severe migraine headaches. We are staying offsite the night before as we are arriving late and to save a little money. When she wakes up in the morning there is a 50/50 chance she could have a severe migraine and her day is done.

We plan to go to riverside early a.m. and book in for our two rooms, then go to magic kingdom if all is well and get in our rooms later. If she is ill and most likely the rooms will not be ready before 9:00 is there somewhere for her to lay down at the resort and sleep it off. What have others done who are in this position.

Thanks for anyones help.

If you check in online or use my Disney experience, they can text you when your room is ready. If memory serves me right, there is a "have my room ready quickly" above all other requests button when you pre register. Then you could hang out at your first hotel until 11 or so and have a better chance of being able to go straight to your room.

I would consider not worrying about saving a little money and going ahead and getting the room for the night you arrive. It sounds like it would be a good investment. You wouldn't have to worry about finding a place for her to sleep if it is needed and would ease your concerns. I don't think the resorts have any areas that would be a good quiet, dark place for her to sleep.

Getting the room the night we arrive is our best bet but we are getting two connecting, and for both $360.00 U.S. I am from Canada so that $360 will cost us $468.00 Canadian with our exchange rate right now for that night. I guess i was trying to cheap out and get a $100 room the night before and use what we would have saved for some meals.
I am not sure if we can take one of the rooms the night before if they will still be connected or if I need to get both rooms the night before to have them connected. We do need them connected.

This. With a 50/50 chance that's a place I would not spare the expense. I know it's tempting because that is a fair amount of money, but sometimes disability is expensive. :(

Oh, believe me, I understand your thought process. I just think given what you have said that I would go ahead and spend the money. I think your daughter would be much more comfortable if she does have an issue. Fingers-crossed it isn't a problem.

You could find out if the night-before hotel has a late check-out option and how much it would be. Then if your daughter needs to sleep she could stay in the room and someone could go check-in at the Disney hotel. You then might be able to go from one right to the other.

You do know that connecting rooms are never a guarantee, right?

Or just pay for two nights at the offsite hotel. That way they have a for sure place to rest until they get a text to zip on over to WDW.
Op will have a "guaranteed" late check out whenever they'd like.

Hi Thanks everyone. I think I will just bite the bullet and pay for the two rooms the first night.
Yes I do know connecting rooms are not a guarantee but Disney has really been good in the past to try and accommodate this for us as these migraines have been going on for years for my daughter.

1) Go to a park and do First Aid, where they have cots.
2) If the room is not ready, the resort cannot help you, except let you sit in the lobby
. . . the Deluxe resorts doo have some nice chairs and sofas in the lobbies
. . . the other resorts usually have chairs and a few love-seats
3) If you were in the room form the night before, would you like to be thrown out before check-out time?
4) This would not be fair to the people in the room.

Hi: No I wasn't expecting anyone to be sent out early, I get that. I just thought there may be a room that was vacated the day before and would be empty at 9:00 a.m. Although knowing how busy disney is these days that is probably impossible. Glad to hear all the parks have a lay down area in the first aid, that is valuable info for us.

one of our daughters had to use the first aid at MK to lay down as heat got to her. if needed I would plan on her laying down at first aid at the park instead of resort as any empty room would then have to be cleaned before any other guest could use

I think this is a great idea.

I suggest you go to Hollywood studios for the first day. If she is not well, you can drive there instead of fiddling with busses. First aid is just inside the gates, beside guest services. All the other first aids are deep inside the park and she might be too ill to contend with crowds, noise and smells.

This is what I would do too.

I would second this option. A second night is only another $100, so still cheaper by half than the $400 for staying onsite. And depending on their cancellation policy, if you don't need to stay beyond the first day's checkout because she's ok, you may be able to get some of the money back.
