ROOM LOCATOR

Sorry for positing this again, I know this has been answered before but with the search function turned off I couldn't find the message which answered this question.

I am trying to find which rooms are available still on our cruise of October 13th. When you go on the DCL site, it looks like cat 5-11 are still available so maybe we are sailing on an empty ship. I know that we have about 8 DIS members on board so would like to see whats still available.

With all the upgrades being posted, maybe I can hope.

Thanks

Thanks for the information. That was the site I was looking for.

I just checked and the Dreams site alone shows 1- cat 4, 8-cat 5, 8-cat 6, 2-cat 7, 8-cat 8, 8-cat 9, 8-cat 10, & 5-cat 11's.

Total 48 rooms available just through Dreams.

We're on an empty ship.

Thanks again Lisa

Is that unusual to have so many available cabins? I'm new to "cruises" so have no idea how full the cruises are? From your comments, I'm assuming the ships are normally full.

The two Cat. 7 that are available are 7120 and 7620, which are two of the recently reclassified ones that are not really "Navigator" Verandah staterooms.

And by the way, all those rooms are not only available through Dreams. Those same rooms show up in any TA site that uses the Cruisepath CruisePro engine, including mine. So the 48 rooms are what is available.

Is there any way to check (short of calling) to see how many Cat. 1, 2, & 3 rooms are left?

The interface between DCL and the Cruisepath CruisePro engine shows a maximum of 8 staterooms in any given category -- even if there are still 50 staterooms available in a given category. Further, it only shows the staterooms that can accomodate the number of passengers in your party.

Thus, this engine should not be considered a valid way to determine how many unbooked staterooms remain on a given cruise. But it's very useful for seeing which categories still have availability, and, presumably, the 8 "best" staterooms remaining in each category (or all remaining staterooms in a category if there are fewer than 8) -- where those staterooms capable of accomodating the your party size.

And, as pointed out by taswira, you're looking at DCL availability, not specifically Dreams Unlimited availability.

Yes, that was what I meant. And that engine also allows you to book when there are no specific cabins available and you just get a GTY. As for the Cat. 1, 2, and 3 availability - you need to call.

It was mentioned earlier but I'd like to reinforce what was said about being careful to specify the number of passengers for a specific cabin category.

It's entirely possible that there could be several category 4 cabins available for 2 adult passengers and it would show zero available if you specified a child between 3 and 12.

If the childrens programs are filled, they won't be able to accept new reservations for a party with even one adult and one child.

There are also considerations for the number of passengers onboard so that life boats aren't over filled.

If you're only looking for a showing of the next 8 cabins available in a particular category, be sure to specify just 2 adults in the passenger list.

The best way to explain it is to consider that there are 875 cabins on each ship and there is a much larger number of beds available, because of lifeboat capacity. They can't use every bed in every cabin and they have to allow for a mix of cabin requests, so there must be some empties.

hope that helps
