Room location suggestions?

About to book for June of next year. Decided on a 1-BR villa. The "pool view" category is about the most I'm willing to spend (following a 7-night cruise). Would love to be able to glimpse the ocean (even sideways), but I also don't care for a super high floor and would ideally like to be near a set of stairs in case the elevators are slow. Any specific room suggestions?? TIA!!

Hmmm, in order to glimpse the ocean you are better off with an upper floor. The lower floors will have the ocean view mostly obstructed by the foliage around the pool. At any rate, you should note your preferences on your reservation similar to what you said in your post.

I guess that's what I was wondering--how low can I be and still see the ocean? And is closer to the inside or the end of the "horseshoe" better for both view and stair access? Any ideas? After 7 days on a boat, we may not care if we ever see the ocean again lol!

we spent 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the pools, lazy river, and beach, that we were barely in the room to enjoy the partial ocean view that came with our 1-bedroom island gardens view room on the 16th floor in the ewa tower (near the inside of the horseshoe). after spending 10 minutes on the balcony as soon as we arrived and 10 more minutes the next morning when we first woke up, we didn't go out there again during our five-night stay. ;) so for our next trip we're likely going to get a standard view instead of paying for even island gardens view.

this was our view btw:

the elevators are super fast, by the way. we never had to wait for more than a minute, and most of the time less than that. if i recall correctly there were six of them that served the ewa tower.

I'd think you'd want to be on the 4th floor, but that's just a guess. If you can wait a few days I'll actually be at Aulani and will check it out.
And yes, I would think the rooms closer to the lobby (closed) end would give a better view of the ocean.

if you're in the ewa tower
I seriously think you were upgraded without knowing it. Either that or we didn't get the ocean view we paid for. We had an 8th floor in the same location and they called it ocean view. Happy for you, but disappointed for us.

:\

it's possible, i don't know for sure though. i think you and i were there during the same week (april 10-15)? this is the first room on your left in that long corridor if you turn left after you come out from the elevators. was that the same wing you were in? or did you turn right after exiting the elevators?

Yes, the same week. We turned right after exiting the elevators. Next time we are going to book an island view, just so we can stay 3 extra days.

Just checked this out and I now think you'll need to be on floor 7 or higher. The lobby is on floor 3 and you can see that the tallest palms are at least two stories taller than that. In addition, the volcano is pretty tall as well. I'm not thinking the stairs will be very practical from there.

We had ocean view rooms 601, 602 and 608 and they were just above the line of palm trees, if that helps.
