I am by no means suggesting pool hopping, but my mother, sister-in-law and my neice and nephews are staying at the BC. I will be staying at the All Stars, (no kids just me) so, if I want to join them at SAB, how many keys will we have to show? Is one sufficent?

Huh? Pool hopping is exactly what you are suggesting.

To answer your question, when we stayed at BC, I had to show room keys for everyone and we were issued a wristband. This was June 2004.

In my experience they expect a room key for everyone to issue a wristband. Even when dh and I wanted to just grab a lounge chair, read and then have lunch on check out day, no swimming involved, we needed both our keys and were issued a wristband. No wristband no SAB.

Unless your SIL is under the room maximum and can put you on the room with her and the kids you are out of luck. Unfortunately the fact that it is a GREAT pool with close proximity to Epcot and the other resorts make it attractive for those that would pool hop. I have always had trouble getting a lounge chair at SAB when staying at BC/YC even with the strict enforcement.

Perhaps you could meet for a nice lunch or an afternoon at the parks or a waterpark instead. The mini golf is in walking distance of YC/BC perhaps that is an option as well.

I hope not as I do understand the OP's issue. I don't like pool hopping and won't do it but understand the op's circumstances.

My sil/bil and 4 neices, as well as my sister and her two kids, dh and I with our 2 visited WDW together. Due to prefrences and finances we didn't all stay at the same resort but we were all onsite. We really enjoyed pool time together as a family as it was much more relaxed than park time. Luckily my sis's family and our family were at the same resort and bil was DVC (on points) so we were able to swim together at the resort. It was just a nice relaxing time for everyone in the afternoon and we were lucky it worked out.

Hopefully something will work out for the OP that will not involve Pool Hopping but enable her to see her family as she wishes.

Just a question out of curiosity

Is the showing of key something fairly new??? We last visited in 2001 at ASMu and at that time no one checked anything.

When we went last year, they checked that one of us had a room key in our group - when we travel as a group to the pool, it's very unlikely that ALL of us would bring our room keys. This was on a weekend - I found that they were much less likely to check on weekdays. We generally travel on off times, also - things may be different during the peak times.

There is always the "quiet" pools at BC/YC? Its not SAB but you can all be togther. No one will check id there.

then what difference does it make how may room keys you have to show? Since you said you're not going to be pool hopping then you know you're not allowed in SAB even if they don't check any keys.

I think you made a typo in your OP. I think you meant to type

I want to pool hop and want to know if I can get away with it.

I love pool hopping threads.............they are very entertaining....... :jester:

LOL - I was thinking the same thing! :rotfl:

We are 2 families going in Sept. When we got bumped from the Poly I emailed the IPO at BC and BWI and asked if we split up could we still swim together. They said arrangements could be made. I took it to mean we had to get permission to go to the other resorts pool.

I would think the OP could do the same.

I don't really think the OP wants to pool hop, she just wants to be with family.

EjandMD....I believe that you should contact Disney up front, tell them about your dilemma, and see if they can help you. Disney is all about customer service, so they may be able to afford you swimming priviledges for a day.

Oh boy - pool hopping and refillable mugs! Two hot topics!

Hey! I guess if you get pool hopping privileges for the day at a resort other than your's, you would be able to refill your mugs there too.

.........just kidding!!

Are you no longer allowed to visit friends and family staying at Disney?

I must of misunderstood the question. I thought it was about non-guests using a gated pool that's limited to registered guests of that resort. The question wasn't if they could visit their friends, the question is if they could use facilities that are limited to registered guests of that resort.

I suspect the OP won't have any problem getting a CM to bend the rules, 1 extra for 4 registered guests doesn't sound bad. BUT

How many "guests of guests" do you think should be allowed at popular theme pools? An extra person? An extra family? Multiple families?

We never had to show a room key or anything when we stayed at the BC and used SAB, but we went in September and there was no one there.

I don't see why some people are taking such a self riteous tone with responding to this question. The OP has a very valid concern. I know I would want to be able to hang out with my family at another DISNEY RESORT, especially if I was paying to stay on property at a DISNEY RESORT. If I were the OP I would just have the family staying at the BC ask about it explaining the situation and find out what ya need to do. It shouldn't be a big deal.

And ya know what, if the resort wasn't accommodating I would maybe even try to do it anyway. If you get bounced, you get bounced. :teeth:

Go ahead, flame away.. but I'm just being honest.
