I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this question or not? We are doing a two night trip to Disney since we will be in the area for a family wedding. There will only be four of us this trip, but only three will be going to the parks (DH has no desire since we were just there in June and it will be crowded over Christmas break so he is going to explore areas outside of the parks solo). So my question is do I just book the trip for 3, then ask for a room key only for my DH upon arrival? Will there be additional fees for a fourth person upon check in? Just trying to plan accordingly since this is new to me?? Thanks in advance.

The best way to do it is to book room only (putting everyone on the reservation) and buy park tickets separate for the 3 that will be going to the parks. Disney charges an extra adult fee for each person over 2 adults. If you and your DH are the only adults, there will not be an extra charge. If the other 2 are over 18, you will be charged a nightly fee for each one (values are $10/nt per person; moderates are $15/nt per person; and deluxes are $25/nt per person). If you do book a package, you can add your DH at check in so he will get a room key, but it's easier (IMO) to have him on there from the beginning and purchase park tickets separately. HTH :).

If I do book for three it would be one adult and two teens (under the age of 18). I was afraid that booking the room separately from the tickets may mess up our abililty to do FP+ etc? I wasn't sure?? I have heard it is nightmare to link tickets recently. New to that!!

Since neither of the teens are 18 or over, you will not be charged an additional fee as you and your DH would be the only "adults". I can't help with FP+ as I don't have any experience with it, but it shouldn't matter whether you have a package or room only.

If one of you is not going to the parks, the only way to do it is a room only with separate tickets, unless you are willing to buy a ticket for DH and keep it for later. You will not have to pay for the extra adult with 2 of the 4 under 18.

You can link tickets on MDE that are booked separately. SOme people have had issues linking, but usually they purchased from someone other than Disney such as Undercover Tourist. If you buy separate tickets from WDW, you shouldn't have trouble (although nothing is a guarantee these days).

Thanks everyone! We will just purchase our tickets through Disney because discounts are not available through UT for two day tickets!

The OP can do a package with the 3 that are going to the parks and add her DH at check in. He would get a room key, but wouldn't have to get park tickets.

But then he couldn't use DME, if that's an issue.

I did think of that and was going to post about DME, but I assumed since the OP was already going to be in the area for a wedding that transportation wasn't an issue.
