If you are staying in at a Universal Resort, can the room key be used to charge things in the park?

I'm familiar with the Magic Bands at Disney, but I was wondering if the Universal room key works in a similar way.

thanks,

Yes. Take something for back up in the park. Mine didn’t work the first day due a glitch. Dh’s worked so not a big deal at least.

Yep! You just set it up when you check into your hotel. If you are using a credit card, there will be a hold put on the account. The default is $200 per day but you can ask for less. On our last trip, we set it for $50 per day to just allow for charging drinks at the pool, use at Volcano Bay and it was enough for us. Whatever is left over at the end of your trip is applied to your balance at check-out.

I have charged back to the room
A few times a glitch with my room key card so asked the employee to call the hotel and clear it

Did not want to use cash but the cc on file so I would get the points credit my cc had a program with

Some carts don’t accept room keys.

We linked our MB to CC, but we also brought enough cash for at least one meal just in case the system went down.

Gotcha

I mess up on names too at times

(I have 4 sons and would call them by the wrong name at times when I yelled to stop fighting....)
