Room Discounts for FL Residents/AP Holders

We're moving to FL in February and are going to get FL Resident Premium AP! I have learned from The DIS that AP holders get discounts on rooms. We are planning on staying at a Deluxe for a couple of nights this June. When does the discount come out for June? When will I need to book? Is there a difference between a discount for a FL resident vs. AP holder? Thanks! I'm new to all of this stuff!

Hi almost FL neighbor!

The last couple years, both AP and FL Res rates for June first showed up in Feb/March:
2005
For check ins between 4/17/05-7/4/05 Annual Passholder room-only rates became available on 3/9/05, exp 7/4/05
For check ins between 4/17/05-7/4/05 Florida resident room-only code became available on 3/10/05, exp 7/4/05
2006
For check ins between 4/23/06-6/3/06 Annual Passholder room-only rates became available on 2/22/06, exp 6/3/06
For check ins between 4/23/06-6/3/06 Florida resident room-only rates became available on 2/23/06, exp 6/3/06
For check ins between 6/20/06-8/5/06 Florida resident room-only rates for selected Deluxe & DVC resorts became available on 6/8/06, exp 8/5/06

Who knows what Disney will offer next June, but that is about the time I'd start looking (Feb/March). (Though if you just watch here on the DIS, there will also be plenty of posts here the minute a discount is spotted!)

Usually the AP and FL Res rates are practically the same (AP usually a little cheaper if anything) BUT sometimes availability is different - AP might be sold out, FL Res might be available and vice versa Since you'll qualify for both, you'll have a good chance of getting what you want.

I always price it out both ways to make sure I'm getting the best price and I suggest that to you too - more $$$ to spend in the parks that way!
