Room Discount Question

I've been watching for a room discount for our upcoming trip to Disneyland. After reading the fine print on the offer that is out now, I noticed that it says, "Cannot be used on previously booked rooms." I THINK
that means that I can not book my room in advance and then just add the discount to it like we do for our WDW trips. Is this how it works at DL?

Just for clarification but the new offer isn't out yet. I was looking at the current room offer and wondered if I should cancel my room ahead of time or just wait and see. I'll probably just wait and see.

I have also noticed the fine print on those offers and I have wondered the same thing. I hope you will report back on what you find out. I keep looking to see if a discount rate will be offered on the dates when my family will be going. It seems silly that they would not apply the offer since you can always cancel your reservation and then call back and reschedule a reservation with the new offer.

No idea if it had the same fine print, but I had a stay booked at DLH a few years ago. When the discount code came out, I called and they applied it no problem.

If you book hotel only direct with Disney you can cancel up to 5 days out from your arrival date fully refundable with zero penalty for the three resort properties. So if they will not apply the discount just rebook a new room at the lower fare then cancel the existing reservation. That is one of the advantages of booking direct vs a third party or packages. 3

Theres no benefit to cancelling the room right now.

Coming back to let you know that I was not able to apply the new discount to my old reservation. I had to cancel and rebook. Have a great day!

I was actually able to apply the Disney Visa discount just yesterday. That's weird that they let me do it and not you! I even got a confirmation email with the new rate and the same reservation number. I booked hotel only with no tickets or any other items which would make my reservation a package deal. Maybe that was the difference?

Hi ~ I've only ever done straight room reservations only, no packages, but in the past, I have been able to call and apply new discounts to my existing reservations without cancelling and re-booking. The last time I did that was about two years ago.

However, yesterday, I called and wanted to use a discount out now for Disney Visa cardholders. (From what I've read, I think this Disney Visa discount will be available to the public soon.) Since I had used a non-Disney Visa for my deposit and room hold on the reservation, I did have to cancel and re-book with my Disney Visa. They weren't able to just switch the cards on the reservation. It was an easy process, though, and just took a few minutes. The CM I spoke with was very sweet and helpful.

So, I think in some cases, applying a discount to an existing reservation will work, but there are probably different situations that make cancelling and re-booking the only option. My experience is that it was a quick and easy transaction.

It may get tricky, though, if there are no more rooms available in your category, such as standard, premium, deluxe, etc. I would hope the CM would be able to work within the system to make it work, but I don't really know what they do in those instances.

Just my two cents...I hope everyone enjoys their trips!!!! :)

Where is the Disney Visa offer posted? I haven't got one and I could use it.
Thanks!

I just read about it on another thread here yesterday. I didn't get an email or anything myself, so when I called, I just mentioned I'd like to use the room discount for Disney Visa cardholders. The CM knew about it and helped me out, without needing any codes or anything.

Edited to add: These are the details I found: Save 20% on select premium rooms at GCH and DLH for travel Apr 23 - Jun 15, valid most Sun - Thurs nights. Book from 3/20/17 through 5/25/17, travel must be completed by 6/16/17. Savings available on Premium, Deluxe, and Woods/Garden/Courtyard rooms. Offer excludes select Concierge rooms and suites, except Artisan and Regal suites.

What are the dates for the new code? What is the percentage off of the room?
Thanks for your help!!

oh well.......I'm going July 11th.

Thanks anyway!

In June 2016 we had booked a room at DLH for December 2016. Sometime around October a discount came out for Annual Passholders, I was able to call and book a reservation using the discount and they cancelled the other reservation.

I had originally booked without using my Disney VISA so that could totally be the issue. Either way it was a quick switch for us although I felt like it really didn't save us too much. (I guess I'm used to Disneyworld discounts?? maybe.....)
