Room component survey...

AKV and a cat getting loose on the savana=YouTube GOLD!

I would take my cat and let him loose....I call him a back yard lion, he thinks he is the king back there....he would have conniption on the savanna and IF he ever made it back he would finally quit Meowing to go outside...forever..:thumbsup2

I never get DVC emails so I'll never know if I'd have gotten one or not. :sad2: IF I would've gotten it...

Upgraded bedding to me = Select Comfort adjustable beds and foam pillows.:thumbsup2

Choice of bedding = that would be a YES for me! DS would LOVE to sleep in a REAL bed not a sleep sofa but I ain't goin' to OKW so he can.:rotfl:

Agree about no pets crapping all over the grounds or exercise equipment taking up space.

A DVR would be good IF there was some regular programming available. In a pinch just give me the Weather Channel.:goodvibes

Leave Mousekeeping alone. I like that I don't have to pick up for them every day.

I will not pay extra fees for anything. My dues are enough & if it ain't covered yet then it ain't covered.

I don't care about a tub but I DO want good pressure for the shower head.

I wish I could get the survey too.:guilty:

I just did the survey too. I commented at the end that I would have preferred the survey allow us to rank all the options in order of their importance to us rather than the predetermined groupings they had.

Problem with that is that when you present respondents with a list of 25 or so options, they tend to only give serious consideration to the top 3-4 and bottom 3-4. The middle options are mostly ranked in some random order.

By presenting multiple small groupings, it's pretty easy to build a matrix at the end of the survey and really show how the answer feels about many of those middle options.

Many of those "suggestions" look like they came right from posts here on the DIS! Hmmm, maybe they don't like our polls, so they are starting their own!

Most of their "upgrades" make no sense to me and probably effect a very small number of people. I sure wish I would have gotten that survey after our March trip!!!

My understanding is that all of the items listed are suggestions / requests that have been submitted to DVC in some form (letter, email, phone call, etc.) by actual members. The purpose is to throw all of those ideas out there and find out how members really feel about them. Take something like more cable TV channels. Is the number of members interested closer to 50% or 5% or .5%?

Of course, the danger lies in finding out that you aren't necessarily part of a majority. Even when people seemingly agree in a discussion thread like this, it's hard telling how thousands of non DIS-reading members may vote.

There's no guarantee DVC will act on any of these items and even if they do, I'm sure some will question the validity of Disney's actions. popcorn::

I'd say that's a pretty safe bet on both parts of your comment, Tim. :)

I just finished my survey as well.

I didn't like the feeling that they were going to poach the successful owners locker business.

I wondered why the survey didn't determine if you were a vacation club member up front, and then eliminate the free in room internet choices - how much free internet can I use after all?

I put a comment at the end about the fitness gear. I said give me a bartender in my room, that would be much more useful.

I've said it many times before... Give us a Margarita spout at the refill station! That could negate most all other short comings...

The suggestions look like to me, things guests complain about not having.

It asked about free "wireless" that is not offered now.

Same here. I voted FOR the pet option whenever I could. I don't know that I would use it now but when I can retire and stay for weeks at a time at DVC in winter, I'd love to be able to drive down and take our pets with us to stay with us, not in a kennel. Not allowing pets is really the only thing keeping me from buying enough points to stay at DVC most of January and February each year in a one bedroom.

Very good point, as we spend less and less time at the parks.

Given they've sealed most of the HSIA outlets at OKW during the remodel, meaning we now have to tie directly into the modems, and they are not located in very convenient locations, I think wireless is already in the planning stages. Wireless or wired, I don't care which...I'll be happy with either, as long as we still get it free. It isn't a problem to hook up a wireless modem, and it is likely more secure than a hotel generated wireless signal would be.

I have never understood surveys and polls. If they don't survey all the members how do they get a true reading of that percentage. :confused3

Besides, who needs DVC pet accommodations when Disney is opening the Pet Luxury Resort! New Disney Pet Resort

Not the same as having them stay with you, as they do at home. I'd love for some of the villas to be pet friendly. Not all, but at least a portion of them. I wouldn't even care if the points to stay in them were higher to cover any perceived extra maintenance due to the pets.

Exactly. I answered negative to Disney having storage service. But that's because I already have OL and think it is great. I don't want to see their business hurt by Disney starting their own version.

True, but unfortunately there's really no way I would be travelling all the way from Maine with my 2 dogs :( It may work well for others, but I just can't see us ever utilizing this option. Mazel to those who can/will.

It's virtually impossible to survey all members. There will be some that you can't contact. There will be some that won't respond. And the cost of a survey to get feedback from everyone might be more than to add daily housekeeping! I'm exaggerating but it would be a lot. That's why survey's pick a random group of people and adjust for a typical margin of error. Statistically it can be a very valid way of getting information and if done correctly it will provide a good overview of what the membership thinks as a whole.
