I am posting highlights from this survey for reference sake only...

I know it's a mess, I'll clean it up later.<--Done I left out the factual stuff about my trip as well as my answers. I will say that I answered "least likely" for any mention of Disney keeping my stuff since I don't like them inquiring about stealing OL business.

Thank you.

We are writing to you on behalf of all the staff at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani Village and Disney Vacation Club. We're really glad that you recently spent time with us at our resort!
While you may have received a survey about your experience as a member and/or your experience at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani Village, this particular survey is unique. This survey will help us understand which room components are most important to you when visiting a Disney Vacation Club Resort property. We plan to use the results of this survey to help focus our future remodeling and development efforts.

We appreciate your taking the time to participate, and encourage you to share your opinions; however, please note that we are not soliciting any ideas or suggestions

As stated previously, this survey will help us understand what room components are most important to you when visiting a Disney Vacation Club Resort property. It will take about 20 minutes to complete. This survey is a unique, one-time-only survey and is not the Annual Condominium Association survey or the regular/ongoing Guest Satisfaction survey.

Each screen in this section will contain 5 different statements for you to compare. For each group of statements, please think about the effect that each of them would have had on your satisfaction with your recent resort experience. Then, select the item that you would have been MOST likely to pick if you'd had the choice for the trip you just completed, and the item you would have been LEAST likely to pick.

Fitness gear in the room in place of furniture? Are they looney?

Self adjustable thermostat is simply a setting so how is that an upgrade?

What good does a DVR do if the channels stink?

I can't imagine what some of those options would cost us in dues. :scared1: Honestly, I'm perfectly happy with the amenities we currently receive. Certainly times will change, and more or changing technology will become standard thoughout the lodging industry. But I would hope DVC would wait a couple of years to put anything "new" into the villas, giving prices a chance to fall, as they always do with technology.

I agree, some of those ideas are just looney.

Just finished this survey myself.
I agree, the fitness gear option is craziness. Maybe if you have a GV or something. But I don't want any stinkin fitness gear in our regular room.

Why don't they give an option for bed without duvet/bedspread. You'd think that'll save us/them $. Even other hotel chains now resort to a little piece of material (I don't know what you call them) on the foot of the bed and eliminated the whole duvet/bedspread thing. Nobody washes those suckers... eeyuck!

I put a comment at the end about the fitness gear. I said give me a bartender in my room, that would be much more useful.

Fitness gear in the room in place of furniture? Are they looney?

I thought the same thing.

Self adjustable thermostat is simply a setting so how is that an upgrade?

Maybe they are thinking since it isn't something we have now, but many of us want, it's an upgrade? :confused3

What good does a DVR do if the channels stink?

too true!

How many people do you think are choosing the luxury toiletries over kitchen appliances? Even if you don't cook full meals, having that refrigerator and microwave are nice.

Got the survey today too!

I just kept selecting LEAST-LIKELY for the pet-friendly villa option. Thanks but no thanks, well that and the exercise equipment.

For most-likely, my favorite choices were the bigger safe, wireless internet access (although I just bring a wireless router, so it's no big deal).

M2c...

  • I like T&T the way it is
  • I like my free internet :surfweb:
  • I would love to see sleeper chairs integrated into the other resorts (I know its a space issue but there's gotta be a way :confused3)
  • Could care less about a tub
  • Would much rather take up space with a 2nd bathroom than a stairmaster
  • More cable channels would be nice but not earth shattering
  • I miss my dogs terribly while on vaca but would NOT want to stay in a pet friendly resort :scared1:
  • On their best day they couldn't compete with OL :lmao:
  • I bet if they offered "free" snacks at TOWL in addition to the cash bar & dessert offerings they'd do ALOT more business :rolleyes1

I just took the survey as well. We are pretty happy with the current DVC facilities, room layouts and amenities.

I voted most often for free wireless internet and broader cable station options. I voted against pets and exercise equipment in the rooms.

I might have thought the fitness equipment in the room was looney too except in my last 3 hotel bookings it's been either an option to have equipment brought to your room or else to get a room that has it there standard. It seems to be a new thing in the hotel business.

I voted for the thermostat a couple of times! I do not want them deciding what temp I can have the room at. And at some of the newer resorts this is getting to be the case and you need to know how to override.

Also had to think about the DVR. At first I thought it was silly but then I thought of having to watch games at some rather unconvenient Disney times! I like and watch sports all the time but can skip a game when at Disney. DH does not have that same point of view! :happytv:

I also have no problem with a pet friendly resort. I don't know if we'd ever use it but when staying at any it's never been a problem. It must be a bit hard when Universal has it has an option.

Looney is a nice way of saying what I'm thinking about some of those ideas. ;)

The day fitness gear is added in place of furniture is the day we sell. Anytime DVC does a survey it scares me; they seem to somehow twist the results to justify deleting a service or adding a cost then calling it an enhancement that members wanted.

I'd rather not have free wireless internet that someone else could potentially hack. I'd rather bring my own wireless router.

I like the larger safe idea, though.

I also like the shower head idea, but want a separate tub for the Master bathroom.

Same here. I voted FOR the pet option whenever I could. I don't know that I would use it now but when I can retire and stay for weeks at a time at DVC in winter, I'd love to be able to drive down and take our pets with us to stay with us, not in a kennel. Not allowing pets is really the only thing keeping me from buying enough points to stay at DVC most of January and February each year in a one bedroom.

Just completed the survey this morning. I am pretty much in line with everyone else. I really do NOT want to stay in a pet friendly room (and I have pets) because all pets are not well behaved and some people have allergies, etc. Now if they would provide a separate pet friendly hotel that would be something different.

Another thing I didn't see anyone mention was the ability to opt into the concierge level amenities. That I would consider. I, too, did not like the idea of them offering storage for a fee. I love my OL!

At the end I did suggest that in future surveys they put some questions in regarding handicapped accessible rooms. I told them that as a rule we did not want a HA room and it would be nice if at the time of making reservations it would be one of the questions asked by the CM taking the reservations. I know that you can always request a non-HA room but it would be nice if it was something that could be checked off by the CM taking the reservation. We frequently travel with small children and it just doesn't work for us.

Was an interesting survey!

I just did the survey too. I commented at the end that I would have preferred the survey allow us to rank all the options in order of their importance to us rather than the predetermined groupings they had.

My answers varied depending on what was in the grouping. On the bottom of my list were the exercise equipment & pet friendly accommodations. I don't want to run the risk of being given a room that someone had their cat in before me since I have extremely severe allergic reactions to cats.

Personally I believe that if they want to continue to state that the DVC resorts are the equivalent of the Deluxe resorts on property I think they should be supplying the exact same amenities as the deluxe resorts at no additional fee to the membership. I'm curious to see what the amenities are at the Grand Californian because I know what the amenities are in the hotel & I would expect the same to be provided in the Villas there.

Many of those "suggestions" look like they came right from posts here on the DIS! Hmmm, maybe they don't like our polls, so they are starting their own!

Most of their "upgrades" make no sense to me and probably effect a very small number of people. I sure wish I would have gotten that survey after our March trip!!!

And our trip was in April and we got the survey today. So maybe they are just sending out a big batch all at once going back 4-6 months.

I thought some of the considered amenities were rather strange as well. In any event, it's nice to see them polling even if it is only to say they did so before implementing what they planned all along!

Our trip was the end of April and I got the survey today.
I'm torn on the pet friendly parts; I would love MY dog to come but don't want any others there, lol! My dog is vaccinated, trained, clean, flea-free, crate-trained and I know enough about others to know no matter how loved they may be they will shed, bark, soil a carpet (and the owner will have "no idea" and it "wasn't mine"). Owners will avoid scooping outside area (trust me). So, I'm basically against the pet friendly option and will continue boarding my pets at the animal hospital I work at.

I've stayed at many pet friendly hotels during dog shows to see and hear all the nightmares I mention. Barking while handlers/owners are out to dinner, tearing down curtains and chewing door knobs, etc. Granted, the behavior may not be the norm for the dogs but they are in a strange environment and can do very unexpected things. Scooping up after your dog? I wish I had a penny for every person I've seen scamper away from the scene of the crime.

Also, ask Disney how'd they define pets...mouse, snake, tarantula, cat, goldfish, iguana...all pets. No thanks, I love my cats, but I wouldn't want to travel with them.
