Since I am not a DVC member, yet :) (we are currently waiting to hear back on ROFR). I was wondering what the price is if we wanted to have our DVC room cleaned daily... I would assume that this would include fresh towels.

Does anyone do this? Advantanges/Disadvantages.

Thanks!

I've personally never paid for extra. I was concerned before my first trip but got used to it. Especially in a 1 bedroom is larger. It's easy to just throw the towels into the in room washer and dryer. I could see getting it on a longer stay in a studio (you can pick which days you want it). One big advantage is you don't have to deal with housekeeping coming in when you are in the room. I've had them knocking on the door at 8:30am on trash & towel day (didn't have a "do not disturb" sign).

Full cleaning on a daily basis would add up and be very costly. The beauty of the DVC villas is that you can maintain it yourself. If you have the one bedroom as mentioned above, you will have a washer and dryer and even a dishwasher. You will also have a vacum and broom/dustpan.

One of my concerns before buying DVC was the lack of daily housekeeping. Since buying 7 years ago, I've never once paid for extra housekeeping, and never missed it. In fact, I much prefer only having housekeeping in every few days. When I stay at a resort with daily HK, they invariably show up before I'm ready to leave the room, or when I want to relax in the room in the afternoon for a couple of hours.

I re-use towels at home, and I don't vacuum and scrub the bathroom every day at home. If I ever did need extra towels, I wouldn't hesitate to pay the $6 for the towel package.

Forgive my dumb question (new owner here, haven't even sent the paperwork back yet!). I have seen "Pay as you Play" referred to a couple of times. Can someone explain this to me. The packages that are mentioned....do I get each of these at check in and then pay if I want more?

Yes, you get everything listed at check-in. If you are there for 8 days or longer you will get a full cleaning and get everything again. If you are there for 7 days or less you will get Trash and Towel service on the 4th day and the things listed for T & T will be provided.

I also thought I would miss daily mousekeeping but I actually PREFER that we do not have anyone coming into our room. Even on T & T day I try to find the mousekeeper in the hall and get what I need and give her a tip. I just like NOT having anyone invading our room.

I was the same was a pp's. I was nervous on our first trip home that I would miss the housekeeping. We re-use towels at home and bed-making isn't a big deal to me (if it's made great if not great - the bed's still comfy). I didn't miss it one bit. I never had to worry about coming back to the room if housekeeping would be there or not. I'd throw in a load of wash in the morning - switch it out in the afternoon and we all came home with clean clothes so I didn't have that depressing laundry pile to deal with!

I think almost every new DVC is a little worried about the housekeeping. Since most of us never owned another timeshare, and are used to "normal" hotel rooms, it really strikes us all as "odd" that there is no housekeeping. But, once you "go with the flow" you really don't miss it at all, and actually I hate staying in hotel now, and having to be "out of the room" so the housekeepers can do their work.

Thanks everyone for the replies, sounds like I will go with the flow and probably not miss it at all!

We actually prefer no housekeeping coming in. That being said, this trip we will be paying for a full cleaning one day of our 2 bedroom stay. We have one guest leaving and 3 others coming in on Friday, so we will pay for a full cleaning that day instead of our scheduled T&T service. That way I'll have fresh beds for the new guests without having to wash and make them myself. It's worth the $60 this once.

8 NIGHTS or longer = full cleaning on Day 4, trash and towel service on Day 8.

7 NIGHTS or fewer = trash and towel service on Day 4.

Everything is based on NIGHTS of stay, including the Disney Dining Plan.

If you are there for 8 DAYS, you are only there for 7 NIGHTS. Thus, only T&T on Day 4.

First, good luck with your ROFR. Just wanted to tell you that that was a big reason for us not buying DVC for a long time. I couldn't imagine doing without my daily housekeeping. But then on our first visit, I realized I didn't miss it at all. I actually liked not having mousekeeping coming into my room every day. Then of course, we kicked ourselves "We held off because of THIS?!"
