I just wanted to report that we had NO issues with intrusive room checks. We were up and out early every morning except Thursday. That day housekeeping was knocking on the door at 8:30, but we were up. It took me a minute to get to the door. I said come back in 15 and he said no problem. Each day the room was ready by the time we returned usually between 2-3.

On Friday we did have housekeeping knock after they had been there. They were checking to make sure the room was satisfactory. My husband answered and said everything was great. 2 minutes later another knock. This time I answered and it was Shaun, a manager, saying he just liked to check that we were satisfied with our housekeeping after everything had been cleaned. I said everything was great, he didn’t ask to come in just said that if we needed anything to let them know.

That’s the extent of it for us. My parents had the same experience. We never used the room occupied sign. And yes, we did have one, I checked.

I didn't realize that intrusive room checks even occurred at WDW Resort hotels. While your experience sounds just fine, has there been a rash of odd goings on?

3 knocks in a fairly short span - I would consider that intrusive.

Is there a reason you decided not to use the room occupied sign? I would not want someone knocking on my door at 0830.

2 knocks. It didn’t bother me. Honestly, if I hadn’t read anything here I would just think the manager was doing his job checking guest satisfaction. I can’t even honestly say it WAS for the room checks. It didn’t feel that way, but I kind of just assumed it was due to what I had read here.

Well, I really didn’t think about it. Also it was in the back of my mind that they seem to check more, according to reports here, if you use the sign. Maybe the 8:30 would have bothered me if we were asleep, but we weren’t so no big deal. We are also early risers even when we try to sleep in. The knock at 8:30 seemed to just be housekeeping. They were going down our hallway checking which rooms were empty. They knocked on my parents too. Didn’t seem to be anything to do with room checks.

I should also add that my DS came down with a stomach bug Friday and was in the room for half of Friday (it had already been cleaned) and all Saturday with my DH. Saturday my DH just asked for towels for housekeeping which they gave him and he didn’t have anyone else knock to check on the room later on. He did tell them that DS was sick.

Wow. What do they do?...I’m imagining everything from someone showing up @midnight to rope off and limit the balcony for hard ticket access, to sending a CM in to regulate the shower w/ a FastPass window.
Lol (literally just laughed out loud)
There are stories of them knocking at extremely early morning hours, coming in when people are still sleeping, coming in during naps, barging past people. Some folks are outraged. I personally had no bad experiences during our recent 8 night stay.

Please don't give them any ideas...

Oh, that’s not good. Glad you escaped
it on your recent trip. We will be there this summer at AKL. I will be well prepared with some snappy, pixie dust laden, passive aggressive Disnified retorts!

Nice
Did it ever occur to you that there may be someone just doing their job?
Did it ever occur to you that some of these reports are highly exaggerated.
Just sayin

Yeah that was kind of the vibe I was trying to give off too. I find it hard to believe people are just barging in and what not. I was alone in my room with my toddler trying to get him to nap one afternoon and I let the housekeeping guy in after I asked for towels. Not once did I ever feel like there was any barging or intrusions going on.

It was a tongue-in-cheek post, as was the previous one. I don’t actually have any passive aggressive Disnified retorts. Nor do I believe anyone would realistically install a shower fastpass.

They are doing this because of what happened in Vegas. JMO. I watched a special where that guy stockpiled almost 30 suitcases in his room. I’m sure they are going in to make sure this is not happening. Not like they are thumbing through your stuff. Just checking to see if anything crazy like this is happening which would be a clue. If this possibly could save you or a family members life I’m suring the complaining would stop. Like it or not Disney would be a prime target for something like this. I have no problem with it. I wouldnt mind a little more security to be honest.

I thought it was this too. Apparently it’s actually issues with human trafficking.

Maybe a bit of both. After the Vegas shooting apparently I know for a fact of at least one hotel that went away from do not disturb signs and have a mandatory room checks of at least once a day.

Why do people think that when someone reports a negative incident it's all made up and exaggerated? I thought that's what this board is about- sharing one's information and discussing actual experiences- good and bad. I'm following these reports closely as I really hope to stay at a Disney resort again- but not if this room check remains an intrusive mess.

Perception is reality and that’s really the biggest issue here as far as the broad range of experiences.
What I may consider as not a big deal may be a major inconvenience to someone else.

Proabably the same reason you don’t think they are exaggerated. We are all different. You apparently side with the ones saying how intrusive it is judging by your last statement. Others may not feel that it would bother them as much as it would others. I’m pretty laid back. Some people are more uptight. Does not make one right or the other. It’s your choice not to stay there . Nobody will force you too.
