Room check in at WDW after cruise-experience?

We will be cruising on the Wonder in December. After the cruise we're staying a couple of days with family at Fort Wilderness. Has anyone had any experience with check in at WDW resort after the cruise? I am wondering if we can get in our room a little early. We know we get off boat about 8:00 AM and assume we will be back at WDW area by about 10:00 AM. We are in a limo and don't have our own car so I am just wondering if we will have to stand around at Disney???? We know there is a lot to do at FW so we might do some sightseeing, but would really like to get in cabin first to lay our stuff down. Anyone have experience with this sort of vacation? How strict is Disney on the check in times? Thanks!

I can't help you with Fort Wilderness I'm afraid but we checked into the Boardwalk after our Halloween cruise, arriving at about 10.15am. There was no problem with checking in but we had to leave our bags with Bell Services and were told our room would definitely be ready from 4pm but that we could call anytime from 3pm to see if it was read. As it happened we spent the day in Epcot and didn't get back to the boardwalk until about 4.30 anyway.

Usually they will let you check in - and give you a room if there is one available. Otherwise - just leave your bags at bell services - and they will deliver them to your room for you.

We've experienced both, with early arrivals at WDW.

Last year after the cruise we were able to check in right away at POR. This was good since our plan was to relax a bit at the pool and do some laundry.

Other times (not cruise related) we were able to leave our luggage with Bell Services, but I believe you had to call them to have the luggage delivered after you were in your room.

Maybe be different at different resorts.
