Do you have to give your resort a credit card to charge to your room? Is it possible to send the resort you are staying at extra money above your room cost as a way of saving for your trip?

You can certainly overpay via prepayments in order to build up a credit that you can charge against. You might want to scan through this board and the budget board. There are a lot of posts by people who have done this, and what their experiences have been. (Mostly positive.)

Have a good trip!

DW and I just brought Trav Checks with us. Then when we checked in, they credited the Trav Checks to our room a/c. We did'nt even spend it all and they gave us back cash when we checked out.

Have a great trip.

On our recent trip, we took all cash, and kept it in the room safe. Then every night, I went down to the desk and settled up for the day. It helped us to keep better track of the expenditures, so that we didn't go overboard.

I had to provide a credit card to guarantee the charges, however.

Our last trip, DH and I and two adult sons (separate room) paid for everything in advance except for meals, souveniers, etc.
We did give them a charge card account number when we checked in and except for some phone calls and internet connections (younger son), we ended up paying cash for everything, so really had no charges left when we checked out except for a few dollars.
The trip before we charged some meals, some purchases at the park, etc. to our room, but this time we planned it out better in advance and used cash most of the time.
We loved the idea of charging to the room, but because we kept our receipts that time, we knew exactly what it was going to be. When we got our next charge card statement, we knew exactly what it was going to be for the WDW expenses.
I had asked someone when we checked in if we could have overpaid for our room, etc. and she said they would have sent it back to us. So I guess it depends who you are paying.
Have a great trip.
