I know I saw this a long time ago, but I was wondering what the room charging limits were for the resorts. I know that the value is one limit, moderate another, and deluxe another. Anyone know what they are?

I couldn't find my records, but I think it may have been $1500 at AKL last year. When you reach the limit, they charge it off to your credit card, and you can keep charging more. We always charge our room when we arrive, so we usually exceed our limit.

When I arrived at AKL they asked me if I wanted to use the same card to charge the rest of my stay. After applying my room balance, they then gave me a 1500 limit on my card. They charged the rest of my bill on the spot so that wouldn't have figured into the 1500. I hope this helps!

$500 -value resorts
$1,000 - moderate
$1,500 deluxe and home away from home

Thanks all. That's just what I needed.

We are just home from the Boardwalk Inn and the charging for us was 1500. We had no problem with that, worked well. Paulette

If you hit the limit you just have to authorize them to charge your card, or pay down your balance in travelers checks, cash, or DD's, and you'll start all over. They are more than happy to have you hit the limit many time during your trip. :)

If you do hit your limit, the CMs are usually well trained and just call the hotel for authorization without any issue (or embarassment).

Also note that those limits are for a week long stay. DH and I stayed at CBR for 10 days and were given a $1500 limit.

Also sometime when you hit your limit they just charge it and return you balnce to 0 without telling you etc. That is what happened to us. We didn't keep track very well of ours and when my friend who was also using the room card went to pay off some in cash they said they had already charged $500 and now the new balance was $15 or so. Not a big deal since she then just wrote me a check instead...but sometimes they don't tell you they are charging it.

We hit our $1000 limit in August on our last night!!! The CM told us that we had hit the limit, was there another way we would care to pay?? When we go to AllStarMusic in two weeks, can we ask for a higher limit? Or do we just wait to see if we hit the limit and then have them restart it?

The cast members should just make a phone call to authorize the charge, thus freeing up another limit as long as you have room on your credit card. Not all cast members know this, though. In July at the gallery at MGM, our purchase was larger than our $1500 limit and the CM said the same thing to us. We told her to call the GF and authorize the charge, starting a new line of credit for us. She called and it went through with no problem. The hotels used to do this automatically, but it is now a security precaution to require a phone call to the resort - this was what a manager at the GF told us last year.

goofy4tink -- I asked for a higher limit at All Stars this summer and was told they couldn't. We had two rooms and the limit was $500 total . . . I was concerned that we would have the same problem you did, so I went down and asked them to charge it after a couple of days so we had a new $500. Interestingly, I think the limit did keep us from spending as much. We moved to a different resort for our last two nights and spent proportionally more then.

I had never heard until this thread that you got a larger limit if you had a long trip. We've done eight days, and it's not been larger.

We stayed at the ASMo for 3 weeks and the limit remained at $500 but it wasn't a problem, we applied TC's intermitently and then if we did hit the limit they charged my card where the funds were available anyway... then we used express checkout and they hit my card for the balance.

We did have a problem with this once - we were at the fast food place in tomorrow land (used to be tomorrowland terrace, don't know the new name) and it happened.. they didn't have the phones to call hotel - luckily I had some cash on me - but would have been a pain if not.

Does anyone know if you can sign something at check in that gives them authorization to just charge it if you hit the limit so you don't have to go through the calling, etc.?

I know when we were on the cruise the last time, they charged our card automatically whenever we hit the $500 amount.

You cannot sign anything to automatically authorize it. My fiance tried last year at the GF and the CM said no for security reasons. I guess they don't want to be responsible for charges if someone steals your card and uses it to go on a shopping spree.

When we were at BCV in September with kids and grandkids, I put all four villas on the same credit card. Each villa had a $1500 limit; I think I was the only one to go over because I put almost all the group meals on our room, but I guess they just went ahead and charged the cc when it hit the limit, because nobody ever told me that I had to stop charging to the room.

I never even thought of this until now - thanks for the info

cheers
