just curious if anyone has been unfortunate enough to have had to check-out and check back in when you've had 2 or more ressies for one consecutive stay at the same resort/room-type.
(as i understand it, this only happens when you waitlist day-by-day and the nights come in one at a time?)

am i correct in thinking that when MS links ressies, that's only a 99% guarantee you will be assigned the same room# the whole time?

anyway, i'm just a bit worried about that 1% chance... :p 'cause i want to treat my parents, and it'd be less than ideal if they had to deal with changing rooms.

just bumping for you as I would like to hear others replies and experiences since I have a "linked" ressie for July!!!

If you have booked the entire stay thru MS and had them note that the separate reservations need to be linked and the entire stay in the same room type, you will have no problem at all. If you intend to book day-by-day, tell MS when you reserve the first day and they will book the entire stay using one confirmation number (and you be automatically linked).

If you have booked part of the stay thru CRO or WDTC, the linking may not be guaranteed since it was booked thru 2 separate reservation systems. They will still try to keep you in the same room. You will have to check-in and get new keys- even if you can stay in the same room.

If you are switching room types during the stay, you will have separate reservations and could possibly have to move during the stay, depending on the specifics of the rooms you will be using. At the least, you will have to check in again and get a new room key- even if you are staying in the same room during the change.

Enjoy!

Today I called MS and changed the first two nights of our December trip from the BCV to the VWL. I had the next three nights already booked at the VWL. I told the CM that I wanted to link the reservations. She told me that it was not necessary because she would put all of the nights together under a new reservation number so that I wouldn't have the problem you described. I was very pleased that she did this for me and so I would say if you have all of the nights under one reservation number, I wouldn't worry about it.

Another story so you don't worry. Last New Year's at the BWV we had a standard room for 6 nights with one night right in the middle for a preferred. The CM's at the front desk took care of everything for us so that we wouldn't have to move. They are great about stuff like that.

Good luck.

We have done a reservation where we paid for part of the time cash (the weekend, so as to not waste points) and the rest of the time DVC points, and even though we were "paying" 2 different ways, we kept the same room. Is that kind of like what you mean???

thanks for the reassuring replies.

i saw another comment where someone speculated that housekeeping might get confused by the multiple reservations.

so i wanted to ask: has anyone had a linked ressie (comprised of multiple ressies) and housekeeping got confused about what days to clean?
and do they do a full clean on the cash nights?

for example, if you had a 8night stay that was 3 different ressies: 2nights cash, then 5nights points, then 1night cash, how do they handle maid service?
do you have the option to switch around the days they do full clean or trash/towel?

If the cash nights aren't DVC discounted nights, I think you would get housekeeping as follows (using your schedule).

Check-in Day (Cash Night)
First Day - Full Housekeeping (Cash Night)
Second Day - (Points #1)
Third Day - (Points #2)
Fourth Day - (Points #3)
Fifth Day - (Points #4) -- Trash & Towel
Sixth Day - (Points #5)
Seventh Day - (Cash)
Check-Out Day

That's how it "should" work. It's possible that housekeeping could get confused but I think they are computerized and not as likely to make a mistake. You could try to shift the housekeeping around but I'm not sure they would do it on a combo ressie. They might so it wouldn't hurt to ask.

If you were staying on all points for an 8 night stay, you would get a full cleaning on Day 4 and Trash & Towel on Day 8.

I had 2 cash nights (Fri, Sat) with the member discount followed by 5 points nights earlier this month. They considered all 1 reservation, we got keys for the entire time along with the parking pass. The counted our cash nights as day 1 & 2 for housekeeping, trash & towel was on day 4 (Monday), which I called and got switched to Tuesday after I washed towels on Sunday afternoon. They came around 9:00am on Tuesday.
