Room change because of Disney error

Hey all,
I wanted to ask if you request a room change because of Disney error at a deluxe resort, where do they place you? I'm just wondering do they find another open room in your resort or will they move you to another deluxe resort. I have read about room changes at value and moderate resorts but haven't seen deluxe (or if I have I don't remember!)
Also, if this did happen, would Disney move you down to a moderate? If so, hopefully they refund some money because you paid for a deluxe resort.

What do you mean by an error? Typically if there is something wrong with your room they will move you to a new room at that resort.

They usually try to keep you in the same resort but if they can't then they would move you to another resort. If you receive a decrease in value due to the change, like you paid for lagoon view and they only had garden view available, then you would get some sort of refund if you asked for one.

What kind of "Disney error at a Deluxe resort" are you referring to? That would probably matter

By Disney error I mean air conditioning not working, assigning a dirty room that was not cleaned after the last family, something broken, etc.

Ok yes that's what I thought. Like I said I haven't been in this situation I was just curious. Thanks for your answer!

Their first choice would be to move you to a different room of the same type. They may upgrade or downgrade the room type, based on availability. If they have to downgrade you they will give you the difference back.

I would imagine they would just give you a new room in the same room category. If there was no availability, they would have to bump you up or down a level, depending on your room category.

For the situations you describe, Disney would have Mousekeeping quickly resolve the room cleanliness issues and maintenance would come to fix the A/C. If this couldn't be done, they would first try to move you to another room in the same resort. If the resort was entirely full, they would move you to another deluxe. I don't think it would ever come to them downgrading your resort category.

We had a room maintenance issue at AKL over this past Memorial day weekend. They moved us to a comparible room a few doors farther down the hall. KUDOS to the way they handled it. We were thankful that they had another room to move us to, on a holiday weekend.

If you aren't happy with your room, you can always asked to be switched to another room at that resort. If there is no availability (which is really rare), or they can't fix the problem in your room, they may offer to transfer you to a different resort.

I had a problem at a moderate resort, we had to wait a long time for room to be ready, we never got room ready email, finally went back to resort to see if it was ready. It was. Walked into the room and last persons trash was still there, on table and dresser. Hair, food crumbs, hair ties on floor, room was a mess. We had a garden view booked, and was moved to a river view. Manager personally went to dirty room to look, and apologized. Turns out housekeeping only cleaned for returning guest, not new guest. Yuck. That meant sheets weren't changed either.

I have had both situations happen. Haha for whatever reason when we book a specific category more times than not when we get there that type of room isn't available anymore. I do NOT think this is the norm, but for us it has happened at least 4 times. We've had it go both ways...room type not available and they move us to a lower category room and credit us the difference in price...or...room type not available and upgrade us to a higher category room but do not charge us the difference. We're pretty go with the flow so we say yay to the extra money we're getting back or enjoy the upgrade we wouldn't have paid for. Disney will do their best to give you what you booked but if something comes up they will also do their best to make it right.

Sounds like the room wasn't cleaned at all. I'd expect better than that even if it was just for a returning guest.

Well, beds were made, lol. But I thought the same thing and was glad to be moved, so I wouldn't get the same housekeeper! I heard he was new.

We had two rooms reserved at the Poly last Sept. We had requested connecting rooms and a specific building but when we arrived, we found out that they had 'given away' one of our previously assigned rooms for the building we had requested. There were no connecting rooms available for that night-in any of the buildings! While neither of our requests were 'guaranteed', they apologized and offered to move us to any building we wanted that had connecting rooms, including the DVC buildings, but we had to split up that first night. We ended up being moved to a DVC rooms at the Poly the following day.

Just an fyi, we were very nice throughout the entire deal. Never made the least bit of a stink and never asked for anything. They just bent over backwards to accommodate us :)
