Room Category for Discount

I currently have a reservation at POR for 11/30-12/7 and am hoping for a Visa Discount(or through WDW, whichever comes first). When they have offered a discount in the past, is there a certain room category that is only available for discount??

With the Stay/Play/Dine discount I had to move from a standard to a garden. I do think people managed to snag a standard though.

From what I've seen as the trend, the lowest priced category is very limited or not available (standard view) at a few of the resorts.

I also had to get a garden view, we originally booked standard at POR.
