Room cards

We've stayed at Disney resorts (non DVC) in the past and have had a room card that acted as a key, charge card & entrance pass.
As a DVC member do you get these cards?
Also I understand that if I don't buy the UPH it will not be included on the card, however if I buy a PH elsewhere, can the days be transferred onto the card?

Thanks as always

As DVC members at DVC resorts we have always gotten our room key, charge privileges and park passes built into the one card when we buy a hopper pass. Last year we bought annual passes, and they were provided as separate cards (rather flimsy at that).

If you buy PHP passes at the resort when you check in, they can easily be included on the room key. Although it has been reported that it is POSSIBLE for PHP passes bought elsewhere to be included on your room key/resort ID card, be prepared to be told no. Not all of the CMs at check in will know how to do this, and those that do don't really like to do it, as it is rather time consuming. Essentially, I was told that they have to "void" the tickets you bought and "sell" you new ones. (You probably won't be very popular with the people behind you in the check-in line if you ask to have previously purchased passes put on your room key, even if the CM is willing and able, LOL).

If you want PHP passes included on your room key, buy your passes at the resort when you check in. You can still get a DC discount on them even if you buy them there.

I'm very fuzzy about the different passes. Is a PHP the one where if you have days left over, you can use them next time you visit? If so, what happens if the PHP is transferred onto your room key?

I've been asking myself these same questions. It does seem to be much more practical to have the PHP's put on our room cards, along with charge privileges, but what if we don't use all the days on the passes during that visit?
Also, my DS will still be 9 years old when we go next, so we can pay the child price for him. Can we upgrade the remaining days on his pass to adult admission on a return visit?

Yes, unused days of admission and plus options from Park Hopper Plus tickets never expire. If you have a PHP pass put on your room key and don't use all the days or options, just save your room key. You can use it as is whenever you return. No need to do anything with it. (Of course, you won't be able to use that particular room key for charging priviledges, anymore! LOL).

If you return after you child turns 10, just take the child's ticket (or room key) to any guest services location. Disney will convert the remaining days/options to an adult ticket. There is no charge to do this.
