Room booking question

I am not sure if this is the place to post this question MODs? I have been trying to book a room only reservation on the WDW website but it says it won't accept anything after Dec 31, 2012? I am trying to book for May so do I have to go through a travel agent then?

You can book room-only for next year, but most likely you can't do it online yet (I don't think they have released 2013 room rates yet last I knew).

Packages won't be available for booking at all until room rates are released.

You do not need to use a TA, you just need to call on the phone.

Based on past experience, they will quote you the highest 2012 room rate for your 2013 booking, and then adjust once 2013 rates are released.

If you are wanting to book a room only reservation, you can book it yourself over the phone. Just call 407-W-DISNEY. The package prices for 2013 are not yet out but the 2013 room only rates have already been established (what I have been told by 3 different CMs). Unless the policy has changed, you will be required to pay a deposit equal to one night's stay and remaining balance can be paid upon arrival.

If you want a vacation package, just keep checking over the summer. The 2013 prices should be published sometime before the end of August. Even after that you'll want to keep your eye out for discounts or promotions that you may be able to take advantage of.

I just called yesterday for our upcoming trip in February and earliest we can book a package would be August. So for May, you'll probably be a few months out from that date.

Actually, as soon as the 2013 packages become available, it will be for all of 2013.

You may be a bit confused.

Usually the rates come OUT in August, so you would be able to book your package IN August - not book a package just FOR next August.

You can book for the entire year once the rates come out for the following year.

That is not the case for this year. I called and booked my room and they quoted me the actual rate. I am paying $100/night for my January trip.
