I will be going with the Escape package and I understand that Escape brides can opt for a room block if they can commit to booking a certain amount of rooms. How many is this and how much discount do you get with a room block?
I also understand that you can book AP discounted rooms before your pass voucher is activated so long as you are in posession of your AP when you check in. How many rooms can you book with your AP discount? Is it just one per AP holder or could I book several?
My situation is this - We will be a small party coming from the UK and will number between 11 and 17. I am a DVC member and have managed to save/borrow enough points to pay for everyone to have a room at one of my home resorts for 4 or 5 days over the actual events of our VR. I understand that booking rooms with DVC points does not entitle you to the free room offer, am I right? We wish to stay for a good ten days to two weeks afterwards and I want to investigate whether, if we remain staying on site, we would be better using room block/AP discounted rooms for the stay actually over the VR time and use DVC points afterwards or doing it the other way around.
If any of this makes sense, I would be grateful for your advice!!!

i only know one thing about all your questions - that is, yes, you can book with an AP discount before you actually have it, it needs to be in possession when you check in and each separate room has to have an AP holders name on the reservation (you can't book 5 rooms under AP even if you are paying for them as far as I have ever heard - you cant even really get Disney to guarantee multiple rooms together before you arrive, like if you had a big family and wanted 2 connecting rooms).

good luck with it!!

I would not tangle with the room block if you don't have to. Escape events only get a 10% discount for using a room block, and you can't get any other discount (or the dining plan) if you book through it. You will save way more money using DVC, and AP discount or even the discounts available to the general public right now. :thumbsup2
