Room block/minimum question

I know that for custom weddings you need a certain number of rooms booked depending on the number of guests. Now, my question--I have been looking into "renting" points from DVC members for our rooms and the prices to do it that way are a lot cheaper. Does anyone know if booking through a DVC members would be permitted as part of the room nights?
