Can someone please explain the room block deal with me. I am confused..this is what i was told but doesn't make sense to me.

I can only hold 20% more rooms than the amount you are guaranteeing. With a room night guarantee of 25 room nights, I can hold a total of 30 room nights throughout the block. If you want to increase the amount of rooms in the block you will also need to increase your guarantee.

I am looking at the the excel spreadsheet, but confused by it.

hmm, i'll try to see if this helps...

Right now you have to guarantee that you and your guests will pay for at least 25 nights on property, so you can pick as many as 30 nights to hold giving your guests a little leeway. If no one books the extra 5, you're not obligated, but if you only use 20, you still have to pay for 5 more. Make sense?

Now, if you know you have enough people going and you will definitely need more rooms, and you want to block them now A. to be sure you have enough rooms at one particular resort for people that want it and B. to be sure those guests get the discount, then you are welcome to block more than 30 rooms. BUT, if you block more than 30 nights total, you're then responsible to pay for or use 80% of the total you block. So, if you block 50, your new min would be 40 nights to use or pay for.

I hope that helped a little. The way we worked it, I blocked what we wanted, talked to my mom and dad and blocked what they wanted, same with Dsis, DBil and FIL's. After that we added a couple rooms at our mod and value resorts and figured that was enough, but we had a small wedding. That will get you started though.

OH, and one more IMPORTANT THING. However many rooms you block, if people book OTHER rooms at Disney for some reason (DVC, etc) you can count those to reach your min required nights, without having to cancel any that you've blocked.

Only Wishes brides have to do room blocks.

One addition: If you don't block enough rooms and your hotels do sell out, your guests can still get the discount at another Disney hotel with availability. But it's really inconvenient to have guests spread among a bunch of hotels if you're hiring transportation for them.

I know how u feel!! I'm trying to do the room block right now actually. With our wedding the weekend before the fourth of july, it's been crazy trying to ask people where they think they'll be staying and for how long because I don't want the resorts to book up before they book their own rooms. It kind of defeats the purpose of the save-the-dates haha.

Good luck! :)

OK I think I am getting it but just want to clarify one thing lets say I block rooms in 3 resorts and when my guest book rooms they choose none of the 3 but other disney resorts still meeting the 25 room min is that OK to do or will I get charged for those room blocks

It's OK - they can reserve anywhere on Disney property and it will count toward your room-night minimum. (If they do DVC or a cast member reservation, their reservations will not automatically appear in your block - you will have to call your WP's assistant to have them added manually).

However guests will only get your wedding discount at the 3 hotels in your block. So unless they get a screamin' AAA, AP, or cast member deal on some other hotel, they'll probably want to use your hotels!
