Room Block and DVC

If you rent points and stay in a vacation club, do the rooms count towards the room block? (as in, towards the free night?)

I am not sure when you signed your contract but rooms only count for the free night if they are booked as part of your wedding block at the wedding rate. If you had the DVC hotel as part of your block then maybe?

Yup! If you look in the F.A.Q. for the room block (I think that's where it was), it says they count, the Disney wedding booking people (your contact for them) just need the reservation #. We have a couple people staying at DVC places (that weren't hotels in our room block), and they go in the manual section of the room block reports you will receive and count toward your minimum.

Hmm. We have a bunch of family members staying at various DVC resorts (they're all members) and I was told by Bill when we did our room block that those DVC rooms would not count toward our free room.

Has this changed? I would love a free night! LOL

I think they count for the minimum but not for a free room. So you wouldn't have to pay any penalty but only rooms in your block count for the free room. Hope that makes sense.

We booked a bunch of rooms through my CM rate and they all counted. But now I hear that has changed. Stacey had most of her guests book through a UK travel agent and none of their rooms are counting towards their free nights. She said it counts toward their minimum, but not their room block. So I guess now you get 2 free nights, but you have to book the 25 nights through the room block itself to earn it. Kind of a bummer

It depends when your contract was written. We signed before the 2 free nights promotion but we only get our free night with nights booked at the wedding rate. We have over 40 room nights booked but we aren't going to get the free night. It sucks but the room only rate was way better than the wedding rate.
