Room at Contemporary or Suite Elsewhere?

We are planning a trip for later this spring with our children (who will be 4 and 1 at the time). We last visited when our son was 2 and stayed at the Contemporary. I was less than impressed with the hotel itself but LOVED being able to walk to the Magic Kingdom. We have booked a room at the Contemporary again but now I am considering booking a suite (or two rooms) at another Disney property instead because my second child is a very light sleeper. Suites (or two rooms) at the Contemporary are outside of our budget.

What would you do?

I would note that we will have a car and if we stay at another Disney hotel we would plan to drive to all of the parks. We had horrible experiences with the Magical Express and the Disney bus to the Animal Kingdom on our last trip and my husband has refused to set foot on them again.
