If we are checking into our Disney Resort on Tuesday 4/17, will they have our room assignment yet? I am anxious to see if they honored my request for the section I want to stay in? Any info. on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

They should ... We weren't due to check into AKL until the morning of January 1, but went there to eat the night before. While there, I decided to ask at the front desk if they had our room assignment yet, and they did. They showed us on the AKL map whereabouts our room would be located, but couldn't tell us our room number until we actually checked in the next day. And they did give us exactly what we had requested!

officially, it may be, it may not be. it all depends on the resort and the season and the direction of the wind (sorry).

either way, they can move you to another available room if such a more desirable room exists. just ask.

Brad is right, there's just no way to know when your room is assigned. It may be done a few days in advance, it may be done as you're standing at the check-in desk.

Even if it's done now, there's virtually no chance that they'll tell you over the phone. What happened to dixiedizfan is rare; generally they won't tell you until you've checked in AND the room is actually ready to be occupied, as they may need to make a last-minute change.

I’m surprised dixiedizfan was told the location of their room that far in advance. I wouldn’t expect that as a rule, and I definitely wouldn’t expect to be given that information this far in advance, or other than in person.

at check-in, i've always been shown whereabouts my room is, even if it isn't ready. that's when i decide whether it's worth pushing for something better and then i learn about where the other rooms are. not specifically, but which floor they're on, which building/wing, etc.

i've never done it the day before (though i've never really had the reason/opportunity to), but the only thing odd to me there is that officially the resort isn't supposed to deal with you until day of check-in (everything is supposed to go through CRO before that), but i can't say i blame the CM either. what are they gonna do at that point?

Even if it is assigned now, it could change right up until the time you check-in.

They don't give out the information until you check in and if your room isn't ready, they won't give you the room number until it is.

Do they give you a key, but not room number if you check in and your room isn't ready?

yes. and a card with a number to call for your room # later on.

They only told us we'd be assigned to the second building on Arusha Savannah. No room number or anything. And this was approximately 12 hours before we checked in.

I called the resort direct and talked to the front desk. The CM said that he would not give me that info. until I checked in. He said that they "really try" to honor requests, but cannot guarantee them. IMHO I think they do know where they are putting you, but won't tell you because they want to reserve the right to change it at the last minute if they need to. What do you guys think?

Cathy

well, that's one slight technical answer. mostly though because they give you your key at check-in (when your room is all but locked in), they don't want you knowing the room # until it's been taken care of by housekeeping and is actually ready for you to enter.

I think your room assignment isn't written in stone until you check in, and that the response you got is the best you can and will get until you check in.

Love the stitch/storm trooper photo, made me smile:) question for you, i am assuming you went during starwars weekends, we will be there june 2-9. How were the crowds when you went, were they bearable or horrible? thanks1

wow.. well there's a tangent. actually, that photo was from march of this year. darth vader and the storm troopers have been making regular appearances outside and inside the attraction for at least a couple of months now. vader was sick that day though.

but to answer your question best i can, i've repeatedly heard that if you stay away from the star wars specific events, it's smooth sailing in mgm (as someone else pointed out, probably due a lot in part to those who avoid the parks specifically because of sww)

1) Room assignments are made from 4-days prior to minutes prior to check-in.
2) Sometimes they are actually made at the time you check-in.
3) They won't tell you ahead of time, since it is subject to change.
4) Someone in front of you might ask for your room.
5) If you haven't checked-in yet, the CM can change their assigned room for yours.
