Room assignment ?

We're headed down tomorrow with my parents and my in-laws, staying at POR. I just called to make sure that I had requested rooms near each other for all of us and they told me what building we're in. Is it likely that this will not change or is there a chance that we could be in another building? I thought the rooms were not set in stone until you checked in but I could be wrong.

She told me we were in building 25 and I was hoping to be in a building closer to the main building and Old Man Island. She said she could put us elsewhere but we weren't guaranteed to be near the grandparents, which is more important to us than the building location. 25 doesn't seem to be too bad, it's near a bus stop and a quiet pool, but it looks pretty far from everything else.

Thoughts?

I worked at Caribbean Beach Resort about 16 years ago. This is the way it worked then and I do not things have changed since. Each resort gets the reservations about 5 days before check in. Some rooms are assigned beforehand if there are special requests---such as yours where you want three rooms together. Others are not assigned until check-in. It is highly unlikely that your room assignment will change.

Building 25 is about am 8 minute walk to the pool and a 9 minute walk to the main building. When I timed this, I was by myself (without kids, strollers, etc.) but I do walk slow (I am not quite 5' feet tall). You are close to a bus stop.

I might try calling again. I am not sure why they couldn't tell you at that time if there was another building available for three rooms.

Did you call the POR or did you call the main reservation number??

It could also change before you get there if someone else makes a request when they are checking in. I would ask when you check in what is closer and available.
