...I asked her if there was any way I could wait on a studio that had a tub. She went in the back for a moment and when she returned she said we had a room with a tub now and the room was ready NOW! Huh,????????????? I just don't get it................!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The handicap room they first assigned us to that I didn't want was not ready, but a room I did want and was willing to wait for was immediately ready...............................Can someone explain that situation to me???????????
Sounds like the resort was pre-assigning rooms on that day. Before anyone even arrived, the room assigner did their magic and tried to match vacant rooms with requests. Theoretically, the greater good was served and every attempt was made to accommodate the wants / needs of individual guests.
You unfortunately ended up with the pre-assigned Handicapped Accessible room.
Now, here's the kicker. When you asked for a different room, the CM took it upon herself to switch you with another guest. And it just so happend that the room you were switched to was already cleaned and ready for you to move in.
The downside to this is that the guest originally assigned to that room might have checked-in at 9am and informed that their room wasn't yet available but "all of your requests have been met." Unfortunately by the time they got up to their "room", they discovered a Handicapped Accessible room which was far from their requested accommodation, and proceeded to (literally or figuratively) curse-out the front desk staff for "lying" in the first place.
That's what happens when CMs start switching guests on the fly.
And please don't think that I'm saying you were wrong for requesting a different room. If the CMs are agreeing to make these changes, they are the ones at fault.
This is one of the reasons that I'm a fan of the Room Ready system in which rooms are assigned when the guest arrives at the front desk. I know that Room Ready doesn't do justice to every guest, but my experiences have certainly been better than a flawed system of manual assignment--particularly when compounded by CMs trying to accommodate whichever guest screams the loudest.
