Room 2122 and 2124 - why are they noisy?

They offered us connecting rooms of 2122 and 2124.

They are on Dave's noisy list. Has anyone stayed in these cabins?
If so, how were they?

Right now we are in adjoining rooms and wanting connecting rooms. I have declined for now, but just wondered what the noise is. They are under hall leadinging to Parrot Cay, so wondering if there is noise from engines, etc.

I am thinking that they are on the noisy list because they are connecting rooms, I posted something simular yesterday with no real response except someone wanting to know the same thing. If you don't connect with the other room the noise must come through the door easier than the walls. Just my thoughts on this whole noisy room thing.

We stayed in 2122 and the only problem we had with noise was that the family in the connecting cabin had an alarm set to go off while they weren't in the room. It went off for a good half hour or so and we could hear it pretty well. But, if you're planning on having both cabins, the noise from the connecting cabin shoudn't be a problem for you. On the last evening, we heard some noise of luggage being transported, but it definitely wasn't enough to keep us awake and I'm a light sleeper.

We loved 2122 and thought the location was great for hopping the elevators up to the restuarants and deck 9.

HTH,
Julie

So if you go first let me know and if I go first I'll let you know. We have had connecting rooms on that level before and never had a problem. Of course, I WANT to hear what the kids are doing over there.

Yes, it appears you are correct the noise would be coming from Parrot Cay directly above you. You see it in the attached link that Deck 3 is located directly above those cabins:

These rooms are not noisy because of the connecting door. We stayed in a connecting room and never heard the people next door. Hopefully, they didn't hear us.

Room 2122 & 2124

Our family shared these rooms on our Dec cruise. :)
Our daughter nx door did not complain of noise at all, but we had #2124 and occassionally heard noise from above. It is under Parrot Cay and if I'm not mistaken the noise is coming from the door outside PC leading to the outer deck. In late evening we could definitely hear people talking/laughing from that deck area. It did not go on all the time, so it really would not bother you unless you are a very light sleeper. Surprisingly we heard little noise from the conn cabin. It is next to the elevator, which is very convenient. Also has a laundry room just down the hall.
No noticable engine noise. Enjoy ~ the 4' portholes are great!

The teens weill get 2124 since they don't plan or being in till after Common Grounds closes:rolleyes:

For me the elevator and laundry more than make up the noise factor. I love the second level.

We just stayed in 2590 & there was definitely engine noise. There was a humming that started around 2586 & went a few rooms past ours.

However, everyone in my family likes "white noise", so we didnt mind the hum & would book on 2 & even the same room again, if we had to.

One thing I did notice when walking on the other side, was the hallway by the laundry room was rather hot... I guess from the dryers.

well it appears there is a little noise under or over the whole 2000 level of the ship, but it also appears that it is nothing that is overly obnoxious and most of the time you are probably dead tired and won't hear it anyway! right? so who really cares what Dave's list says!!!

Where do I find "Dave's Noisy List"? I'm interested in how bad it might be way in the back in 2647? Anyone?

Thanks ...
Michigander

Anyone ever stayed in 2572? noise issue? Also, just how big are the large portholes? Are they approx. 3 ft around, or 4 ft round? Even though I have seen pics, I can't visualize how big they are. I like plenty of outside light, this is why I am asking. Thanks.

Hey mamaof5.

Yes, Caribbean Sea noise is less harsh than land noise...

who really cares what Dave's list says!!!

Me, for one. His website offers a wealth of insightful/useful information.

Good morning nativefl.

Good guess...

yes while dave's lists are helpful, you are at the bottom of the ship there is going to be noise.

Are there rooms on Deck 2 that are noisy?

I had more than one question about the noise on Deck 2 while I maintained a "Let me answer your questions, 'live' from the Magic" thread on the DIS Boards during our 2001 Magic cruise, so I went down to Deck 2 and did my own evaluation.

First of all, let me state that, for the majority of the rooms, Deck 2 is very quiet and you should have no problem staying there. But there are some zones where staterooms are near loud mechanical equipment (electrical lockers, transformer rooms, a/c equipment rooms, ship's propellers, cargo hatches, etc.).

So with the disclaimer that "your mileage may vary" and that you may be willing to put up with the "dull roar" in exchange for a good fare, these are the rooms that are in noisy zones:

Port Starboard
2000 - 2004

2032

2036 - 2047

2078 - 2085

2094 - 2096

2114 - 2129

2139 - 2153
2500 - 2520

2534 - 2547

2586 - 2600

2626

2630 - 2653

Also, on Deck 1, you might want to avoid...

Port
1030 - 1037

1064

The noise in these zones is not so loud that it would ruin your vacation, but if you are sensitive to noise, you would probably want to consider another room or be sure to bring earplugs to wear when you go to bed.

We were in 2590, so we walked by 2572 all the time & I do not remember hearing any obvious noise. When you walk through a doorway right before 2586, there is a noticeable hum.....but honestly we did not mind the noise.

As far as the portholes, the really are very large. I heard they were 4ft & I would say that is about right.

I tend to get clastrophobic & really need natural light, so I was a little concerned when we booked our 5/24 room & could not get a verandah. We sailed 3 years ago for 3 nights & loved the verandah, but the oceanview room worked out just fine & I ended up really not missing the verandah. I have also contacted All Seasons about our next cruise(5/04) & am planning on sticking withe the oceanview. To me the verandah is really not worth the$600-$800 more. I would much rather spend that on excurions, shopping & the spa!!:Pinkbounc

We have those connecting rooms also booked for our December 2004 cruise.

When I reserved them, I inquired about the noise and was told there was none. Now, I am concerned.

Would appreciate further input from others who has stayed in them. Thank you.
