Ron Jon

Hi
We have not stayed there yet (December) but have been checking out the boards for reviews etc. If it is reviews you are looking for there are some great ones on the board already. Someone might post a thread for you. There are also some great reviews at www.tripadvisor.com. Just search "Ron Jon" and then choose the one in Cocoa Beach.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info--one thing that I can't find out is if they allow you to park your car there for the duration of your cruise?

We stayed there for 3 nights, May 5-May 8 and boarded the
Magic on May 8. We liked it, but then we don't have real high
expectations. We can stay at a Day's Inn and like it. It definitely
isn't Disney, but then we knew that. No you cannot park your car
there while you cruise, as they don't have many parking spaces.
We did not eat at the restaurant so I can't comment on that. The
small water park was fun, the miniature golf was very easy. I
hope this helps. You definitely need a car to get around as it is
back in no where land. If you are staying just for one night and
having a taxi take you to the ship, then it would be okay, but
otherwise I wouldn't recommend staying there without a vehicle.

Thank you so much--the no leaving your car there for the cruise makes a HUGE difference for us. I'll stick to the Radisson!

We stayed at RJ and loved it. Had a rental car so i have no idea about leaving a car. Sorry. Any other questions I'd be happy to answer!

I have read some reviews that say the staff is not very friendly, and the word rude has also been used to discribe some of the staff. I also read that service at the restaurant was very slow and food wasn't very good. I am not concerned with the restaurant because we will have a car and can easily drive to other restaurants but in general how was the staff? I am a little concerned because the reservation line is very hard to get through to a person, and the person who I have spoke to on two different occasions was not very friendly. I can understand when a resort just opens up it might need time to get everything up and running smoothly but the staff should at least be pleasant and it has been open 4 months now, so I think things should be running smoother right along.

We stayed at the Ron Jon on May 8, and I'll have to agree that the staff was rude. We had friends staying at the Radisson, and I needed to call them when we arrived. After we checked into our room, I couldn't find a phone book. I called the front desk to ask if it should be there somewhere. They told me that it should but they didn't know where. They then informed me that I could come down to the desk and RENT one. I asked if they could look up one number for me since the room didn't have one. I was very rudely told that they were too busy. They wouldn't even send one up to our room. It wouldn't have been such a big deal except that I had my two year old with me and our room was quite a long walk from the front desk.

I should also say that the resort itself was wonderful. We could have spent much longer there. The pool was fabulous for our 2 and 5 year olds. We ate in the restaurant for lunch and had decent service, but we were the only people in the restaurant. The server was not very friendly, but he was ok. The food was good, but it took quite a while to get it. You definitely need a car to get around since the resort is located at the end of the road to the port. It is about a 10 minute drive into Cocoa Beach to the nearest grocery store and restaurants. As far as the parking situation, I had read on these boards that some people were told that they could park there while on the cruise, but we were told no when we got there.

We will not be renting a car while staying at Ron Jon prior to the cruise. Are there any other restaurants or places to buy food within walking distance from Ron Jon? We don't mind walking a few miles for exercise anyway and won't have any little ones with us.

Thanks, Tink

The nearest restaurants are in Cocoa Beach, which is about 2 miles, I'm guessing. Anyone have a more exact estimate?

We recently stayed at the Ron Jon this past weekend. We thought that the restaurant had great food. you can also sit out poolside at the tiki bar and eat(burgers and sandwiches). There is a small store at the resort that sells tshirts that also had snack food and soda. We also saw alot of people who had pizza delivered sitting out by the pool.
I think that the closest restaurant that would be walking distance would be Grills.
It was probably about a mile walk(rough guess) on the sidewalk outside the hotel grounds.
We also found everyone at the resort to be friendly.

I called Ron Jon's today as some posts on this thread were making me a bit nervous. We are staying there on Saturday before our cruise. We were initially told by our reservationist "Tuesday" that we could park there and use their shuttle service to get to and from the port. Today, Cindy did re-confirm that, yes, you can park there, they do have long term parking and it is gated and secure.
I am staying there this Saturday so if it turns out to be something different I will certainly let everyone know. Also, as a side note every time I have called Ron Jon's the staff has been very friendly and pleasant. They do realize they are competing with Radisson.

Thanks for all of the information everyone! I'm looking forward to hearing some more.

Can any of you that have stayed there tell me if they sell milk in the shop where you got snacks?

Thanks. :)

Oh thank goodness I am reading posts that the staff is friendly!! I was getting nervous too! We had originally booked the Raddisson, then switched to the Ron Jon! I can't wait to hear about your stay!!

The store is similar to a 7-11
They stocked milk, juices, soda, bread and canned goods, ice cream, toiletries
and an assortment of Ron Jon Surf Shop products.
Your room key is also good for a 15% discount on any products at the main Ron Jon Surf Shop but not at the store in the resort.

We stayed at Ron Jon's a week ago Friday, the night before our cruise. We had a great time, it was croweded but that was to be expected. We did not run into any rude people, infact they were very helpful. One thing to remember though is that the kiddie pool and lazy river close at 5:00pm. The big pool stays open later. We did not use the resturant, we went to Grills instead. Grills was very good but also VERY croweded. We had at least a one hour wait even with call ahead reservations. Let me know if you have any more questions and I will try to help.

Tracy,

Did you park your car at Ron Jon's? When I made reservation I was told this would be no problem. Don't want any last minute surprises. We usually stay at Radisson but heard so many good things about Ron Jon's thought we would give them a try.

When the hotel is crowded, can you still find chairs in the pool area? Does the lazy river have tubes available?

Hi,
I see on their website that they have a basketball court and tennis courts. Do you know if they have equipment rentals or if the equipment is free to use?
Thanks for any info
