I am starting to look into arrangments for the night before cruising in Cape Canaveral and I have gotten quotes from both Raddison and Ron Jon Resort. For those that have been to either/both...which would you reccomend? There is only about a $25 price difference. Thanks!

Never stayed at that Radison but my kids LOVED the Ron John (10 yr old boy/girl twins).
would love to stay there again but need a good code!

Have a great trip!

We have stayed at the radisson twice, third time coming up shortly.

We love it. It is just a couple minutes from the port, nice rooms, great staff.
Our ac wasn't working when we got to the room one time, we called, the maintenance man was at our room within 3 minutes, we went to get lunch and we had a cool room when we got back. Manager even followed up to make sure everything was ok.

The pool is wonderful, lots of other cruisers to talk with the day before, live music at the pool to get you in the mood.

We've stayed at the Radisson 3 times in a one bedroom and I can honestly say that I disliked all 3 times, it's just not clean enough for me. The last time we stayed was January 04 and I do understand they did some remodely so it might be bettter now. Our friends stay at Ron Jon's all the time with friends (they live in Orlando and go for the weekends to enjoy the beach) and they really enjoy it here.

We've stayed at the Radisson twice and chose to stay at Ron Jon's last year and will be staying there again this year. We liked the Radisson and for one night it's not bad but we felt it was a bit run down. We loved Ron Jon's, it was a great start to our vacation. The rooms are new and spacious. We stayed a 2 bedroom deluxe which is a one bed room with and adjoining studio but chose a regular 2 bedroom this year. The pool area is really nice. The kids were able to swim and the food at the pool was really good and inexpensive. Both hotels are about the same distance from the port. I don't know if Ron Jon's offers a shuttle (we drove) but Ron Jon is definately worth an additional $25.00 if a shuttle isn't an issue for you.

Just returned last month from spending 3 nights (2 pre and 1 post cruise). They were doing numerous reno's and the place looked really good. We had a suite as there are 6 of us and they were really nice rooms. I would stay there again and their shuttle service was very nice, they took us to the beach the one day and then to and from the port.

I have not been to Ron Jon's so I cannot report on it.

We've stayed there(Radisson) 3 times & another coming up in June. Have ABSOLUTELY NO COMPLAINTS! The room was spotless (king suite),NO problems with anything! Will stay there everytime we go to Port Canaveral! :flower:

We've stayed at both, and I'd choose Ron Jon's hands down. The pool area is amazing, and our kids (5 and 3) loved the indoor playground as well. The customer service was not the greatest, but the rooms were great.

We stayed at the Radisson once and that was enough for me. We had a terrible experience with them. Their customer service was horrible! I posted about our experience in November, right after our cruise so I will not go into it all over again. You can PM me if you have any specific questions. We will not stay there again, and I would not recommend them to anyone. :sad2:

We stayed at the Radisson last time and loved it. The room was clean., the pool area was great and we had a great time there. We are staying again in April! I had no problem with customer service, they had a higher price listed when I cehcked in than what I reserved at and they said no problem and fixed it right there. The room service was great too!

I'm having a difficult time finding an online site to reserve at Ron Jon's.
Any suggestions?

I just booked a night at Ron Jon's, but had to do it by phone. Their website (as far as I can tell) does not accomodate online booking.

FYI...you may have to call a few times. I called 4 or 5 times before I got a human being on the phone.

We booked a studio for $135 a night.

I have stayed at the Radisson. Have also stayed near the pier in Cocoa beach and have seen Ron Jon's. Take Ron Jon's. There is so much more to do and far prettier. I did not like the Radisson. Dark, isolated. And because you need transportation from either, the extra 5 minutes will be nothing.

Thanks for the info., Kim. I just booked one online, but got a rate of $150 for a studio. Still better than the Radisson rate, though, and based upon the reviews, Ron Jon sounds like it wins!

Since Ron Jon does not offer a shuttle service to the port, any recommendation on who to use for transportation?

I wanted to stay at Ron Jon's because I had heard so many good things about them, but I can't find any info online or a phone #. Any one know the # Please!!!!!
Thanks, Mamo

Here are some great pics of Ron Jons through RonJonsvacations website:

Their phone # is 1-888-933-3030. I would recommend calling them. We are going in Sept and got a 10% discount by using our AAA card. Got a 2 bdrm unit for $216. Its normally $240. I didn't ask studio prices because we have 6 people...but the 1bdrm was $180 and the 2bdrm deluxe was $240 using AAA. They gave me a conf. # and also mailed me one. Also, you have to pay 1 night's deposit (so if you're only staying 1 night, you pay in full), but you can cancel for full refund within 72 hours of your booking. This allows me to also keep a lookout for codes. I've heard of some travel magazines having codes which might get it even cheaper.

As far as transport, we are picking up a minivan (since we have 6 people and luggage) at the airport and doing a 1 day rental, meaning the next morning DH will drop us off at the pier, while he takes the car to the rental location. Most will then shuttle the driver back to the pier. Check out dcltribute.com website for transportation options. Good Luck whatever you do.

FYI....Ron Jon has a coupon on roomsaver.com that gives you a studio for about $120.00 per nite. This is a great deal, but the coupon is good for walk-ups only. That scares me a little (what do you do if they don't have a room?), so I just went ahead a booked on the phone.

Just thought I'd share......... :teeth:

I have heard that they sell tickets to non-resort vactioner's to use the pools?
Is this true? and if so, is it really really croweded??

We just spent two nights at Ron Jon (Feb. 17, 18). We really loved the resort. I highly recommend it. To answer the question posted about transportation to the ship, we had the Ron Jon concierge book it. $5 per person from the transportation company they use. (I can't recall the name). Funny story... We were a group of 17 people and they were to send two vans. The vans were delayed, and we got a WHOLE COACH BUS to ourselves. Great! Oh yeah, and we wound up filling up the whole luggage compartment underneath the bus! There was also Art's transportation service available too. I believe they charged $5 per person too.
