Trying to decide if we should stay at the Radisson or Ron Jon's. We will only be there the night prior to our cruise. Comments please.

We have stayed at both. Ron Jon's rocks! Beautiful themed pool, a mini-waterpark, lazy river, etc. Small putt-putt course, a movie theatre, game room, etc. The rooms are beautiful and new.

Radisson, nice, a little dated, rooms are comfortable and overall it's fine for a night's stay.

The biggest difference between the two, price! Ron Jon's is usually 50. - 100. more a night. Oh, the Radisson offers a free shuttle to port, Ron Jon we had to pay 3.00 pp. Hope that helps a little...

i was considering Ron Jon's for the night after our cruise.
and then maybe a late flight back sunday night?
would it be worth the extra $?
Will let they us hang out for the day after check-out?

For our family no cruise is complete with a stay at RON JON's. Its pricer but we talking a fully furnished resort room (kitchen, living area, in-room washer/dryer, etc) vice the normal four walls and a bed. The waterpark can be relaxing or high impact dependent upon your choices. There are Arts & Crafts rooms for the kids as well as an indoor playground. There is a Children's Program daily where hey are engaged in multiple activities. Also, we enjoyed the mini-golf, game room and onsight movie theatre. Its the perfect compliment to DCL.

***Undoubtedly you have stirred the "NEGATIVE GODS" soon you will see some post which attack Ron Jon. Seems Ron Jon's is like Southwest Airlines (some people just love to hate them) It is after all a time share resort. I have heard many reports of aggressive sales technique. Additionally, I've heard of the bait and switch. They offer you a discounted room if you agree to the tour. If you say no to the sales pitch then you are told there are no rooms available and given a room in the Holiday Inn down the beach. We have not experienced any first hand. We always rent and say "NO" to any offers of free nights and gifts. In my many stays no employee has every pressured me after I have said "No Thank You." Years ago when we first found Ron Jon's we were almost frightened away by the reviews here and on Trip Advisor. Once we stepped on the grounds and experienced it for ourselves all our concerns disappeared.

Worth the extra cash? Here's 11 votes (the entire extended family) for YES! We let the masses line up at the other lodgings while we are tucked away at our hidden jewel. Go For It!!!!!!!

We stayed at Ron Jon's before our cruise last summer and absolutely loved it!!! lots of activities, great pool/lazy river/water slide, access to the beach, music at the pool bar, hair braiding, games, magic show, etc.

... we would stay there again ... but decided to do the Swan/Dolphin and Disney for a couple of days pre-cruise this year instead.

RJ's is very strict on checkout times. You have to be out the room as scheduled.

THEY WILL GIVE YOU WRISTBAND and ALLOW YOU TO SPEND the rest of the day at the resort. You only need the wristband for the waterpark. RJ's does offer waterpark admission on some days to the general public. In my opinion they only use the wristband to eject persons who are disruptive.

You can enjoy the other activities without having to prove you are a registered guest. There are many spots to sit and relax. There is also a spot where you can change after visiting waterpark

Thanks for the info.
We'll have a rental car to get back to MCO, so putting the bags in the car at check-out time isn't a problem. If we can just hang out and enjoy the rest of the resort comfortably (won't feel like refugees) and will have a place to change before heading to MCO, I think we have a winner (it's like getting two days for the price of one!- so cost-effective in my book:thumbsup2)
