Planning a romantic getaway with my number one sweetie, and would like some information on best place to stay. No kids, but it will be her first time in Orlando.
Any experience or ideas would be appreciated.

Not as lean
Not as mean
But still a Marine

If your looking for a cost effective romantic place our fav choice has been Port Orleans French Quarter or Riverside. Nice landscaped areas for nice romantic walks and at night they even have carriage rides.

Is a beautiful hotel, one of my favorites, we spent our 10 year wedding anniversary there in 2002. I don't know your price range, but if you can use a discount code to save on the room it really doesn't price out like a deluxe hotel, but it sure does feel like one! The atmosphere is just beautiful and it's close to the MK, where the magic began ;)

Enjoy your trip!

My recommendation would be the Wilderness Lodge of course. DW and I spent our honeymoon there and loved it. Close to MK but feels like you are secluded. Nice landscape (look at signature). You can rent boats and bikes and they have nature trails that lead over to Fort Wilderness.

Riverside is our favorite! We try to always stay there. The landscaping and theme of this resort is so romantic. You and your sweetie can take walks along the Sassagoula River or in the bayou. The food court is also nice. It is all wood and has a tables overlooking the river. We just got engaged on our last trip to Disney and we were staying in Riverside. The best part of Riverside is taking the riverboat to Downtown Disney.
Have a great trip!!

DH and I decided on AKL for our Spring Break trip because it is so secluded and romantic. It's like two vacations - go do the park thing and then come back to a quiet, exotic, African lodge.

Of course if you want to go all out I'd say one of the honeymoon rooms at the GF or lagoon view concierge at the Poly.

DH and I stayed at CBR for our first anniversary and thought it was very romantic also - we loved the hammocks on the beach and the quiet pools.

You are going to have such a good time.

OOHHRRAAAHH!!

My Marine and I love the Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge, or Port Orleans Riverside. We were engaged at the All Star Music, we honeymooned at the Wilderness Lodge, and spent anniversaries at both Animal Kingdom and PORiverside.

Don't forget to let Disney know what you are celebrating. They will give you the star treatment. Spend some time at the GF spa, take a nice stoll around 7 Seas Lagoon. Go to the fireworks and find a nice secluded spot if possible to watch them.

You guys will have a great time!! Happy Anniversary!!

Another vote for WL from me. DH and I honeymooned there also, and just celebrated our one yr. anniversary back at WL. We're heading back to WL again in May! WooHoo!

It's absolutely breath-taking. And for something romantic, make PS for dinner in Cindy's castle, or walk around Broadwalk at night, or have room service deliver your dinner to your room and eat on the balcony and watch the fireworks!

Hope this helps! ENJOY!!!

I finally got smart and asked her kids. They are grown and out of the house, but they did have some good input. Seems she had told them in the past that she would love a weekend in DW with a romantic room at the Boardwalk overlooking the lake and a view of the evening fireworks. So that is what I am striving for. Got the reservations, now I only hope we get a room with a view of the fireworks. So I spent a few extra bucks. She is worth it.

Semper Fi and for any older Marines like me. Welcome home.

You Lucky Guy!
No KIDS!
Only you and the Love!
Do you both want to stop and smell the roses together ( minus the kids) or See as much as possible like the 8 year old you once were?
Is being entertained every evening important or just kicking back and take IT in youall desires?
Dismembers are helpfull in offering alternatives to fit your time frame and presidence if you clarify.

Either way ENJOY THE MAGIC!

"THE MAGIC HAPPENS!!"

PS:Was just over on Disney Restuarants forum, check out the post "tired of paying $100 for meals?" might help in planning your weekend!

YOu can call the room assigner a few days before you arrive to request the room with the view of the fireworks. That is usually what we do and we have always gotten our request. I know your Love is going to be so surprised and excited.

My Marine is currently deployed and I am trying to plan a surprise trip for him this summer when he returns. Thanks to you for your service to Country and Corps! Semper Fi!
