Im trying to plan a nice get-away with my dh for late late 2006. Im wanting to book the room soon so I can get it paid off and out of the way some point before the trip.

Im mainly interested in Moderates and the less expensive Deluxes. I cant really afford the Home away Home crowd and dont really want the values since its right around Pop Warner Football

It would be about a 10-day trip

we have no children with us if thats of any help

Thanks

Marty:D

For moderates, I'd pick POFQ, smaller and intimate I really like the architecture and decor, right on the river, nice boat ride to DTD, though you'll need to go off property to have sit down meals (only food court, though the beignets are to die for!) I have stayed 3x, most recently just one night last week. They've done a great job on the refurbishment.

For a deluxe, we love the Swan/Dolphin (we can afford the govt discount rates, though they have discounts for everyone too.) All the Disney perks except charging to your room, and you can't beat the location, IMHO, as an Epcot fan. Great pool! I have also stayed 3x here.

As far as Disney deluxe goes, I haven't stayed there...yet... but I would go for AKL. I'd have to splurge for a savannah room though, or even concierge to do the sunrise safari.

For 10 days, (esp. if you have a hard time deciding) you may want to consider splitting the trip between the moderate and deluxe to make it affordable

Make sure you ask around on the Resorts Boards too.

DH and I find the YC to be very romantic. The Value - not so much. :) If we were staying moderate, we would definitely stay POFQ. We've heard wonderful things about it, and it really seems to draw couples there.

Have a great trip!

Keep in mind for many men (including myself) the word "romantic" translates into "clean sheets". That being said, save your money becuse for hubby any resort with clean sheets is romantic.

I think the AKL would be a good choice. My husband and I love this resort. Book a standard view room if you want save on the cost, there are plenty of places to see the animals around the resort (though if a Savannah view fits into your budget- I do think it's worth the extra $$).

My hubbby and I did a romantic getaway at Wildnerness Lodge....very romantic!! And great access to all the great restaurants around the monorail loop! It is a lower delux but you should look into renting points from a DVC member for a 1-bedroom villa .....It has the big jacuzzi !!
Good Luck!

For Budget, I'd vote for POFQ. I stayed there a long time ago (before they were combined and it was very nice).

My wife and I splurged on one trip and stayed at the BC. We both enjoyed it very much. I have also stayed at WL on several trips. It was nice, but I think AKL would be a much nicer choice if you have room in your budget.

But most important...have fun with each other. We have done two trips to WDW together. One was "on the cheap"...the other we splurged. It didn't make a difference where we stayed since we were together...most of the time, we weren't in the room anyway.

We are taking the kids and grandparents in January and definitely looking forward to it!

Have fun!

DH and I LOVE POR! We think it is such a romantic resort.

Weeping willow trees, fountains, benches, bridges over the river, the boat that goes down to Downtown Disney. The charm of the Old South! You truly feel like you are away from it all!

This next trip will be our 3rd time at Riverside!

My DW and I stayed at POFQ and loved it! It is very charming and the people are very nice and accomadating. No complaints during our 8 day stay. No matter where you stay make sure to ask for a king bed as it adds to the romantic feel.;)

POR is very romantic on the bayou side, for the grounds and quiet pool, but the room, not so much. It is my favourite resort among the moderates, but I'd have to say the CBR is more romantic overall (moderate, that is).

Never stayed in a deluxe, but they all look pretty romantic to me. Except maybe the CR. JMHO.

Kungaloosh!
Morticia.

Being on a budget, would you consider staying offsite (most hotels have shuttles, or you could rent a economy size car). Saving $$ there, you could afford some really special romantic experirences, like an illuminations cruise, a morning or afternoon at a deluxe resort spa, and some cozy candle lit dinners. Maybe even a carriage ride;)

(If you cant afford a truly romantic onsite hotel that is)
