DW and I are thinking about going down for a long weekend around our anniversary in September. For now, we're looking at a moderate (it's not a "biggie" anniversary, so we don't need to splurge.) Which would you recommend as the most romantic? If you have specific suggestions about building/room location within your choice, please share them!

POR or POFQ on the bayou baby. Be specific on your requests and at check-in. You can catch a lot of flies with honey in WDW. :teeth:

I hope you have a romantically wonderful time.

Hands down... Port Orleans French Quarter!

Small, intimate, ask for a room with a King Bed. They tend to be corner rooms with two windows. Try and do a carriage ride for something special.

We thought Coronado Springs was very romantic. It really is beautiful there.

I voted for POFQ. We spent our Honeymoon there back in Aug of 1993. Of the moderates it is the smallest and therefore the least crowded. We enjoyed our stay there and at the time we felt it was more important to save for buying our house then staying in a deluxe resort. Go for POFQ and enjoy.

Honestly I really think it depends on what the both of you like. Whats romantic to one couple is not romantic at all to others. Like to my DH and I, when I took him to look at the POR and POFQ he really hated them, but when I took him to the CB he kept talking about how we definitely needed to honeymoon there. (Until he looked at pictures of the AKL and wound up torn b/w the two.)

What do you think you would like better? A river, a lake, a mardi-gras themed atmosphere, a caribbean atmosphere, etc.

If it helps Ill explain why my DH and I found the CB more romantic. At the CB walking around under the lights and around the lake at night is wonderful. You can hear the crickets chirping and it seems practically deserted. Even in peak season we've never had a problem finding a hammock in the early evening hours, and just relaxing on their small beach right by their food court is fantastic. Add the quiet pools to that (we've always found them virtually empty except for the ducks that like to fly in to join us there) and the tree lined walkways with little lizards running to and fro and that was for us.

The POR and POFQ are a bit busier to me, b/c they are less spread out. I think thats what my husband and I preferred about the CB, it was more spread out than any of the other resorts. That however, seems to be a downside of the CB to most people. If you don't like spread out things you probably would not enjoy the CB as much. Of course how spread out it is I've noticed is a matter of opinion. I think its more spread out, but it's still not a bad walk by any means.

Best of luck in your search. Have you tried just looking at pictures of all 4 resorts and seeing what you liked the best?

POFQ, without a doubt. It's small and cozy, the rooms are lovely, the grounds are beautiful! I think POR is too family-oriented to be really romantic. When dh and I go alone, we love to stay at POFQ. :)

My best friend and her dh spent their honeymoon at POFQ on our recommendation and LOVED it. Lots of ambience!

POR for sure. There is nothing more romantic than walking around those beautifully manicured grounds after dark. We went for our honeymoon and liked it so much we brought my parents back within the year. The quiet pools really werer quiet when we were there. A moonlight swim is the ultimate in romantic.
