Hello DISers! I have an evening open near the end of our trip for two (my hubby and I), and I would like to schedule a romantic dinner for us. We are both picky eaters, used to down home cooking. He's a meat and potatoes man, and well, so am I...woman that is... :) We do like seafood, but no fancy fish etc steak, pork, and chicken. I like vegetables that we recognize too. I tried looking at menus, but I have no direction as to which ones have good ambiance and romantic decor. I appreciate your suggestions. Once I have direction, I can narrow it down by the menus (I think/hope). We have already booked Le Cellier, Teppan Edo, Kona, Boma, Chef Mickey's, Liberty Tree, O'hana, Via Napoli.

Thanks!

Well romantic atmosphere and Disney are not always easy to find.

But we do like the Yachtsman Steakhouse.

Also like Narcoosee's at the Grand Floridian.

Maybe Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge?

Exactly what I was thinking. I love this restaurant. And it is great for meat and potato lovers. The Bison steak is very good. It is usually one of the quieter restaurants on site.

Yachtsmen steakhouse. I order everything w/o sauces and always ask for baked or mashed potatoes. Coral Reef has a chicken dish that I order with mashed and no sauce. Not as romantic tho as there are more kids. Fultons is good if you can get a table upstairs by the windows. The only place I have had problems with being a picky eater is The Wave. They don't offer mashed or baked potato.
IMO Artist Point is NOT for picky eaters!
Looks like all your reservations will be ok for you. Although I have never dared try Teppan! Yep I am picky.

Was at Artist Point Nov. 09 and the bison was not on the menu. (not that I would have eaten it!!) Hubby and son wanted to try it. You have to be careful because they change the menu so often.

We eat at a lot of japanese steakhouse type places. They cook the food in front of you so I know exactly what is being put on it. No surprises. Typically garlic, soy sauce, and salt/pepper. Lemon in some cases. I can handle that. I do typically end up ordering most everything plain. I like my chicken fairly dry because I can't handle the runny juices... It's good to know I'm not crazy! :) This is our 2nd trip, and everywhere but Kona and Liberty are new.. Here's hoping we made great choices!

Bistro de Paris is romantic, but I don't know if the food would be too "saucy" for your tastes. How about Shula's?

If your not on the dining plan Shula's is very good.:thumbsup2

Some great suggestions already.
I think the "safest" one would be YSH. A very nice restaurant with a good safe menu for you. Excellent selections of wines or beers.

Artist Point is a bit more adventurous, but still manageable. Check out their menu Artist Point. As far as romantic goes, this is probably right up there. Wonderful grounds to stroll around afterward, very nice room. Also a great wine list featuring wines from the northwest. Book something for later in the evening if you go here.

Bistro de Paris is probably the most romantic place. But you may find the menu to be a bit to fussy for you.

I'd add Citrico's to the list for romantic restaurants. But again, the menu may be a bit too fussy for you.

Just my opinion :teacher:

Agree with Tamar and OKW Lover-- Bistro is definately NOT a meat and potato place.
Shula's has some fine steak and the Sinatra music in the background adds to the ambiance.
Beyond that I'd favor Yachtsman.

We could be twins!!!

Another vote for Yachtsmans Steakhouse...it's a quiet, romantic setting - all about meat and potatoes and after dinner you can stroll the Boardwalk.

I would say "The Turf Club" at Saratoga Springs. I remember the menu being absolutely FANTASTIC and it's an overall enjoyable experience going there. I think you would be very pleased.

I'd say Yachtsman Steakhouse at the YC. Right at the Boardwalk area, which is very romantic to walk around at night. :lovestruc Yachtsman is also very pretty inside & the food is very simple and delicious.

That's what I would suggest. My DH and I like good food but we're not in to alot of the menu descriptions. Too strange for us. After studying the menu's on various sites went decided to go back to an old favorite for our anniversary dinner - Turf Club. Some would say that it's not overly romantic but it can be. If it's not too hot, ask to sit on the patio at sunset. We ate inside and had a quiet area. We think it's the best steak on property. The boat ride to and from DTD is nice followed by a stroll thru DTD can be romantic. :lovestruc
