I was reading about the romance at sea pkg- this is all I've seen on it:
Romantic Escape at Sea:

Add $299* per couple to 3-, 4- and 7-night Disney Cruise Line® cruise packages.

On board, you'll receive:
- Romantic gift amenity delivered to your stateroom (one per package)**
- Couples massage at the Vista Spa & Salon
- Priority seating at Palo for one night
- Romance turndown service (one night)
- Champagne breakfast in bed (one morning)**

Use Booking Code ESC

*Add-on prices above apply to 3-, 4- and 7-night sea packages, only. Packages must be purchased for all Guests in the party for the entire length of stay. **Guests must be 21 years or older. Options available for travel 1/01/04 through 12/31/04.

Okay, so it's $299 per couple- but then below it says the pkg must be purchased for all guests in the party for the entire length of the stay. What does that mean?? We have 2 rooms booked- since we have 3 children- does that mean we have to get the pkg for the two other "adults" we're paying for? (meaning 2 of our children counting as adults with us in 2 rooms- only one counted as a child)
???
Anyone have any idea what the romantic gift amenity is? I mean could they BE any more vague about what you are paying for? LOL

What is romantic turndown exactly? (again with the vague...)

Do you get to pick which morning for the champagne breakfast in bed?

This sounds like it's worth the money to me... not just for the gift, turndown service, and champagne breakfast- but to have the couples massage and Palo seating wrapped up in the bag without having to freak out about getting ressies getting there early to board and rushing to get ressies at Palo first thing (worth $300 to me- I assume that also includes the Palo fee? Anyone know?).

I also read on another thread that someone had the "romance pkg" (which is available for land/sea pkgs- romance at sea is available for cruises only -which is what we are doing- 7 day cruise) and they mentioned being able to reserve the spa & Palo by phone before cruising- can you do that with the romance at sea pkg also??

Okay I read the other thread and gained a lot of answers/info- except I am still unclear what it means that you have to purchase the pkg for all guests in the party....

On the same page they talk about the Family Reunions Package, I've always assumed that's what that was in reference to, not the Romance Package. We'll have DSs with us, I KNOW they don't mean that we have to pay for an extra Romance Package for them too!! :teeth: It really is just $299. per couple. :)

The page that I copy/pasted above only has THAT on that page.. on the DCL website. However, I'm totally agreeing with you- it really wouldn't make sense to have to do it for all guests in the party- especially when involving other family members that are not "couples".
LOL
Now how do I add this to my booking? Contact the TA (which in this case is allseastravel for myself) and have them add it?

I think they mean if you maybe have 4 adults to a cabin, that you would have to purchase it for both couples? But since kids are not applicable anyway, that you don't pay for them.

I think so! We booked through them too, I plan on calling them when I'm ready to add this package onto our cruise.

The only downside is that you can not make your spa ressies until on board. DCL explained that they were a different company and had different rules and guidlelines and while Palo would be made ahead of time, the spa could notl.

Thanks! I'll contact allseastravel then. :)

Oh and about the spa- someone else mentioned they WERE able to reserve their spa massages before going- but even if we can't... I imagine since it's part of the pkg it's like a guarantee- and with Palo ressie already done, I won't have to really RUSH to get the spa ressies. I might not get a time I wanted if I only wanted one specific time or something- but I'm pretty sure since it's part of the pkg we'll get SOME time for the massage... and I wouldn't agree to it being during a time we'd be off the ship- but any other time at all would be fine for us (except dinner seating time ofcourse LOL) In other words- we are very flexible on the time/day of the massages. The Palo ressies done ahead of time is a major relief though....

(ps. another reason why this pkg seems worth it to me- is just the little "romantic" stuff- we'll be celebrating our anniversay on that cruise. :) )

We are booked in March through DVC using our points. If we want to add this package would we call DVC or DCL? I know that ANY change in reservations through DVC has resulted in a change fee. Do you think this would apply to this add-on?

(we need a blue shivery smilie to show you how I feel)

Miss Eyeore ~

Call DVC to add. They will not charge you a modification fee, as it is an add on package, you are not changing the ressie. DCL will contact you prior to sailing to do the Palo ressies.

This is a Priority seating for Palo only, like concierge guests are entitled to, only you are really paying for it in the package... Add up all the features a la carte- it's more expensive. You are paying for the convenience of the amenities- that's factored in...The fee for Palo is not included in this package. You will be billed the $10 PP ( plus your gratuity, as you see fit). The cabana couples massage at CC is not included in this package. It is for the ship's spa only. I was told that the Spa will contact you before your sailing date as well for a ressie.

If you are doing this mainly for Palo ressies, don't fret. Just get to the Port early & go directly to the Palo sign up. You should get your preferred date & time no problem. Tell them it's for an anniversary. They will accomodate you.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary on the Magic in November. After going over all the details with DVC, we didn't feel it was worth it. The MS rep. I spoke with said that most of the time this package is purchased by others not sailing for the celebrating couple as an anniversary gift. That is primarily why they offer it... We got our ressies on our anniversary night with no problem.

My sister called DCL to inquire about it for us, as she saw it on the website too. She ended up sending us a new mini digital camcorder as a gift, which blew us away.... She said it was a nice package but she thought it was pricey for what they offer. She felt for a few bucks more, we could record our trip & anniversary memories & keep them forever... I'm glad she did that instead of the package... She's the best!

I copied this from my 12/6 cruise report at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=481040
"I had booked the ROMANCE PACKAGE and so we had been able to make Palo reservations before leaving home, so we went to the Spa and booked our couple’s message. Note on the ROMANCE PACKAGE: the cost was $299. It included tea roses in the room ($39), Romance basket with chocolates, champagne, and a photo album in the room ($54), dinner at Palo for 2 ($20), a couples message ($178), and a day in the rainforest for 2 ($30), for a total of $321. In addition, I was able to make my reservations over the phone from home for Dinner, Tea, and Brunch at Palo, as well as pick my dinner rotation."
The prices quoted are what Disney charges if you buy them separately. From what I gather, what is offered is in the process of a change. We did not have breakfast in bed or the turndown service. But we did have both roses and the gift basket. The $10 for Palo was included in the package.

Thanks for the clarification on cost- especially that Palo is included. It really wouldn't make sense for Palo to not be included and charged for that in addition to the $299. If that was the case- then they'd also charge you for the massages at the spa later on your card also. Neither makes sense since it's included.
I'll call and make sure myself too though.
The thing that gets me is that the rainforest isn't mentioned.. so I won't count that as a guaranteed with this pkg. :)

Did you CHOOSE not to have turndown and champagne breakfast? Or is it that it wasn't included anymore?

DH bought me this as an Xmas gift...and it says it starts 1/1/04 - so maybe this package is slightly different than the one Elijah's grandpa had??

Let me clarify. Dinner at Palo was included, but we had to pay the extra fee for Brunch. Also, remind them when you have your massage that you have the package, else you might be double billed and have to correct it after the fact. We did not have an option on the turndown or breakfast, I think the package is in the process of change. I think we got 2 gifts in the room, roses and gift basket, in thier place. The day in rainforest was a complete surprise to us, and an enjoyable one, it came to our room on day 3 or 4 of the cruise and we had had the massage on day 2.
When I called to book I told Disney that the web site and the booklet that comes with your cruise documents listed different things with the package. They mentioned that the package was changing and the 2 people that I spoke with didn't agree on what was included. Now that we are into 2004, it might be more settled. You get a turndown every night anyway and with champagne in the basket and room service any morning you want, you could do breakfast in bed every day.
Enjoy,
John

I think you are right about the amenities being up in the air...

When I inquired in Nov. the DVC rep. said she spoke to 2 people at DCL & both weren't exactly sure what was included. One thought chocolate covered strawberries & champagne, the other said champagne & chocolates. Nobody mention flowers & the DVC rep. said they told her the Palo fee wasn't included, as it was only a Priority seating. It was an extra thrown in, as ordinarily you cannot reserve Palo ahead of time. She thought that strange as well, but was repeating what she was told..My sister said she was on hold for about 20 minutes, as no one knew what was included. They did tell her the couples massages on CC were not included, they were 2 massages at the Vista spa. They thought they were individual ones, but they weren't sure...That's why she opted out & sent another gift. She told them that for $300, you should be able to say without a doubt what is included.

It will be interesting to see if others get similar amenities to your experience in the new year. It's too bad that you get a different answer each time you call. I was surprised, as DCL usually has all the answers at their fingertips. There does seem to be a great deal of confusion on this one...

Hmmm, I also think that if they charge any amount for a "pkg" they should be able to tell you what's included.
The website STILL states romantic turndown and champagne breakfast in bed. It also states a romantic amenity in your room. So the roses and champagne can't be in place of the romantic turndown service and champagne breakfast in bed- then where's the romantic amenity also on the pkg?? Perhaps the roses were in place of the romantic turndown, the champagne/gift basket replaced the champagne breakfast, and the rainforest was the romantic amenity?

It doesn't mention brunch- so I never would have thought that was included anyway.

It's supposed to be romantic and says couples massage, right? (can't remember- will have to go back a pg after typing this to make sure) It's not really romantic if it's seperate massages individually... hmmm

I don't really like the idea of paying for a pkg and not really knowing what it's including... they might as well list it as $299 per couple and you'll get whatever we give you- call it "mystery romantic pkg". LOL
