My dh and I just celebrated out 40th wedding anniversary this past summer. We will be at WDW in January for our anniversary trip. Due to the economy we will be staying in a value for the first time. We are actually staying at Pop Century. Can I decorate the door there? Also over the I have given him surprises on every trip but I am running out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions? Than you!

Pop is my favorite value. If you request a high floor with a lake view, you can see the fireworks from Epcot and MK. These are considered standard view rooms. There is a nice walkway along the lake and you can take the bridge to AoA.

Thank you!

walking around the lake can be fun too.

just don't start rushing around - you can get carried away by the others - remember that many guests are going to WDW for the first time and some are afraid they won't be back - so they rush around.

Since you're celebrating your 40th anniversary, why not request a room in one of the 70's buildings? That would be cool. :cool1:

we have never stayed here at all so we aren't sure what building offers what. We have always stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. This will be a new experience for us. We appreciate any advice you have. What is the difference of the two buildings? thank you all!

70's is closer to the food court/bus stop

50's is almost as close to the food court - but definitely further from the bus stop - but it has the lake view I think you want - plus some of the rooms have firework views - both Epcot and MK - this is building 3 - building 2 (still 50's) actually has a better view of the fireworks (in some places) - but the lake view is not as nice (my opinion) - here a map

Yes, you can decorate a door there, but unless it's around a holiday - I don't really see many door/window decorations. The "rooms" themselves at Pop are going to be same - but different building have different theming on the outside and can be closer/farther from the bus stop/lobby/lake/pool, etc. So - you really should look at a map of the resort - it's available on the Disney website.

As for a special idea - maybe book a tour? Wild Africa Trek? Or if that's too much extra cost - suggest a theme of "let's do this" every day - or try something new. It could be a silly game of how many pressed pennies you can collect (or maybe try to collect 40!). Having a drink at each of the resorts on the monorail line one night. Doing the Kidcot activity (as adults) in EPCOT. Trying SOTMK. Get ice cream as many times as you can. Just something "unique" to this trip that might not be part of a normal trip. Or have a list of 40 things to do while on the trip and see if you can cross them all off - stuff like - ride Mission Space, go to Tom Sawyer's Island, get a hot dog at Casey's. Wear the Anniversary button! Plan to dress up one night for one special meal - maybe at a place you haven't been before.
