Hi, I'll be visiting my brother and his family who are stationed at the air base in Mildenhall. I'm an American from NYC, and have never been to the UK.

Does anyone know if there's a Roman Catholic church within reasonable travelling distance from Mildenhall so that I can attend Easter Sunday Mass?

I googled and came up with St. John the Evangelist, but I'm not sure if it's a Catholic church, and if it's far from Mildenhall. On the map it looks close, but there's no distance information. Can anyone help?

By the way, I'm so excited to be visiting England. I leave next Thursday on Virgin for a great fare of $455 RT, flying into Heathrow.

Thank you in advance for any information you may have for me.

Oh, one more thing...how's the weather there? Google says it'll be in the 50s. I'm wondering how I should pack, more for fall or for spring. Thanks again.

Hi Ailsing!

I'm not from that area but I am a Catholic and I know its the diocese of East Anglia and they have details of parishes on their website

St John the Evangelist is an RC church but there also seems to be a church - Our Lady of Walsingham USAF Chapel which may or may not be on base?

The weather at the moment is pleasant but by no means hot. The days are sunny (sometimes raining) but chilly so bring clothes you can layer I would say. Hope you enjoy your trip! Lol, I wish I was in the states right know, would love to see "In the Heights" on Broadway - the grass is always greener, eh?! :rotfl2:

I hope I helped and that you have a great time!

Thank you so much for your response!!!

I've started packing some layer-able clothes! Happy Palm Sunday!

St. John's is on the Lakenheath rd. The Sunday Mass used to be at 9 am

It is a misssion of the Roman Catholic Church in Brandon

Both Mildenhall and Lakenheath Air Force bases have a Chapel and Roman Catholic Chaplains. You would have to check with the Mass hours as they were subject to change.

Wow this thread had brought back some good memories.
I used to be stationed in Wimbish near Saffron Walden. We used to travel to Mildenhall and was allowed to go on the base and use their bowling alleys and restaurants. The US certainly know how to look after their guys when they are abroad. And the PX - wow :goodvibes
