I have always loved Rolos but the have changed from a more real caramel interior to a kind of caramel flavor that is more like a soft center truffle. I don't think I will purchase them any more. Anyone else notice this or the change in any other favorite candy?

Haven't had a rolo in YEARS. Never liked them that much either with the caramel center and cheap/commercial chocolate coating.

The chocolate coating seems a bit less quality now and the "caramel" center is nor even the right color. It is sort of tan / gray.

Welcome to the recession. Dunkin Donuts will get smaller. Starbucks sizes will shrink.

Depends on where you get them. Rolo and KitKat are Nestle products in most parts of the world, but they're made under license by Hershey's in the United States. So it's chocolate that's made by Hersheys and possibly their standard recipe which I've noted is mediocre. And boy did I get grief on this forum for saying that once.

The mice in my house love Rolos. 😩 About two years ago my sister bought a bag and had it in the living room. She swore she didn't eat all of them and they were gone too fast to have all been her. I hadn't eaten any. A few months later we were prepping to have the living room floors replaced and took off the covers on the baseboard heaters and found tons of partially eaten Rolos and bits of wrappers. I think they found even more under the dishwasher a couple weeks ago when we had a service guy in to implement a service notice.

Agreed, Hershey's chocolate is the worst.

Ah okay that explains it then. Hershey chocolate is awful. Makes me wish I could get Milka and other European chocolate instead but stores near me do not sell those.

I've seen Malteasers made by Mars. I find them superior to Whoppers (made by Hershey's) just based on the quality of the chocolate. As for Rolo, there are some places selling them in the US as UK or Canadian imports.

I LOVED a Rolos every now and again.

Brand dissolution seems to be the new style of "Corporate Raiders" from the 80's, back then they ransacked solid businesses for physical things to sell off like land and durable goods, destroying the business in the process. All that is left is the brand so now they use beloved brands and put the tags on junk while unsuspecting consumers buy junk thinking it is not junk. We pay a premium brand price for dollar store generic things and the difference is the profit gained via misrepresentation, but people who want premium don't repeat the purchase, and therein lies the destruction of the business. Thanks for the heads up.

Oh for Pete's Sake. Everything gets ruined.

For many years, I made 'cookies' of round pretzels O's with a Rolo in the middle and when it melted a little in the oven, you smashed a pecan on top.
They were great and everyone loved. I took them to most occasions. Darn.

Those used to be one of my favorites. I have not seen them in a store in awhile, but now that you say they’ve changed, I won’t buy them if I see them. They better not mess with the caramel in my beloved Payday.

I have not had rolo's in years. They were my favorite. Also Sky Bars. Loved those. I may have to buy a pack of rolos to see how they are now.

I bought a bag of Rolos at Christmas to make those pretzel turtles and I thought the same thing - they do not taste as good as they used to. I agree with an above poster also about Kit Kats. I don't like them any longer, either.

Sooner or later, you'll open a bag of candy, and it will just be nothing but sugar and a note that says "Eh, good enough".

Edit: Decades later, the story will become "Now it's only a HALF bag of sugar, there's no more note!"

I though Hershey moved all their production to Mexico.
