Rollerblading at Resorts?

Ok.. so here's one that I was wondering about.

I like to rollerblade .. and I see all these nifty paths along the Hourglass lake at POP Century.

Has anyone ever tried rollerblading there? Think it would be any problem? Are the paths paved?

I saw someone rollerblading at our resort last year, which was POR. I think he worked there though. I remember seeing a name tag. I dont see why they would give you a problem. They supply bikes and its kinda on the same lines.

Please don't. Yes, the paths are paved, but there will be people WALKING on them, as well as Pop vehicles (golf-cart-type-things, transporting CMs and materials) on them.

Oh I don't think that would be much problem.. I usually rollerblade here at home around 5:30 or 6am and I would imagine I would keep that schedule.

Plus - I am EXTREMELY considerate of pedestrians, bikers and other traffic. I realize not all rollerbladers are.

Many of the resorts are quite nice for rollerblading! My personal favourites are Pop, Coronado Springs, Carribean Beach, and Old Key West/golf course/Saratoga Springs as there is a nice path that connects them and then unto Downtown Disney.

No one has ever told me not to do it, most castmembers just smile and wave as I go by. As for space, I figure that they rent bikes at most of these places so there should be room for me to rollerblade!

Also, the ride from Epcot to MGM is nice, going around all the resorts.

I have an Boardwalk Bugle from a previous trip. It states that "Rollerblading is prohibited in all guest areas, including walkways, cart paths, pool decks, parking isles and other locations where guests may be present."

Rollerblading through the resorts is not allowed. It also is not allowed on the roads in FL.

While it may not be allowed on the roads, I think everyone in our neighborhood does it and the police don't seem too concerned. There are a few officers that live close by as well and they usually wave to the people going by.

I'm looking at an OKW "Key Notes" that you get at check-in. It states :
FL law does not permit in-line skating on roadways or parking lots. Please see a Resort Recreation Cast Member for information concerning in-line skating and scooters, as well as appropriate locations.

Now would this include bike/walking paths and such ? We did see skateboarders at OKW last summer.

Well I figured rollerblading on the road is a no-no... sides.. I'm not that crazy about it.

I'll just ask guest services when I get there.. There's conflicting notes here so the best thing to do is ask when I get there. Maybe I can scoot over to Wide World of Sports and find a location there.

We took our skates one year but there was nowhere to skate that was allowed. We were staying at Coronado Springs.

There definitely is a law against it in Florida on the streets and parking lots. I guess that leaves only skate parks.

Does this apply to sidewalks/walkways as well ? There are bike paths at several resorts.....could one skate on these ?

I have the same information on the Directory of Service provided by the YC/BC. That certainly makes it sound like it's available somewhere on site. To the OP, I think your best bet is to call the resort and ask to speak to a Recreation CM. I'm sure they'll have the most current information.

Stayed at Pop this year and I did see a sign stating no skating allowed. However, we were there during the inline marathon. So there was a lot of skating going on all over the place. Most CM's just smiled. I did see one group of young boys being told to slow it down a little bit in the congested areas.

It seemed as long as you weren't skating into crowds or congested areas they didn't have a problem with it. If it were me and I wanted to do it, I would. What's the worst that's going to happen? They will probably ask you to stop skating! As long as you comply, I doubt they are going to kick you out!
