A little background first...I am a very nervy Coaster-rider. It took forever to get me to ride Space Mountain, though when I finally did, I enjoyed it. Admittedly, I still get a little nervous before getting on it. Now there is Rockin Roller Coaster. :earseek: I would not ride it last time we were at WDW, but I know DH is expecting me to ride it this time. I heard it is very smooth and you can barely even tell when it goes upside down. Anyone have any insight to help me? Any other coaster-chickens ridden it and have any words of advise? :confused3

Yes, I am a roller coaster chicken too! I actually am more afraid of Space Mountain if that helps! RNR is soooo smooth and the music is so awesome that it takes your mind off of it a little. If it was an outside coaster I would never do it, but being inside you can't really see what's going on, so it's not bad at all, in fact, it's one of my most favorite rides ever! Just make sure as soon as you first get on it, keep your head pushed back on the headrest at all times because you won't know when you will be "taking off." If you don't, your head will be bouncing around and you won't be able to get control of it. Also, if you hair is long, bring a ponytail holder so you can see what is going on!
Try it, you will love it!

RNR is a great roller coaster. It is a very quick ride so worse case scenario I think it is a minute long. You are strapped in very tight so you are actually bumped around more on Space Mountain. My son loves RNR, does not like space mountain.

I'm not a "roller coaster chicken," coasters are my favorites, but my sister is. This past summer we all went to WDW and we talked her into trying RnR, she was petrified but she went on because her 7 yo grandson begged her to. When the ride was over said she wanted to do it again. She said she didn't even feel the loop. Its a very, very smooth coaster ride. It's one of my favorite rides, (I went on it 9 times in a roll once!). Try it, you won't be dissapointed. :teeth:

I'm a roller coaster chicken too, but RnR has converted me. I loved it. I decided I would ride it despite my chickenedness for two reasons. One, my DH would be disappointed if I didn't, and I love Aerosmith. Didn't want to miss the theme! It was great. The first loop comes at you so fast and furious that you're not really sure you're upside down. I think not being able to see it is the difference. Makes it easier for us chickens. It's incredible - and it's given me the courage to try the new Expedition Everest ride in AK when it opens. I'm going to do it. I've never had a problem with Space Mountain or Big Thunder...those are very tame. What I still have a problem with, and haven't tried yet, is Mission Space. The whole spinning thing gives me the creeps and a stomach ache just thinking about it.

Have fun - you'll love it. It's very, very smooth.

I am starting to feel better already. When we were there last time, DH gave me a choice between ToT and RnR. I chose ToT and that was a mistake!!! I hated it. I am sure he will give me the same option this time, so knowing that RnR is cool and not scary is a good thing!!!

Thanks to all of you!!

Here's the straight skinny..

I like roller coasters so RNR is like my favorite ride. My good friend however, does not like coasters and is afraid of heights. She loved SM and we did it several times. She went on RNR and felt like she was going to die! The pp's were correct in saying that it is a quick and smooth ride, and the music is awesome! It does go REALLY REALLY fast though so if this is something that doesn't appeal to you I would just bypass this one. SM is very tame in comparison.

PamNC, I got out of line at Mission: Space. I have since understood that it is not too bad, either, but I'm with you on the spinning thing. However, if someone put a gun to my head and said that out of ALL of the parks, I could only choose one ride to forego, it would be Tower of Terror. I hate that falling feeling...and I have had nightmares about falling through an elevator shaft for years...so riding that ride was like a nightmare come true for me!! :earseek:

You will have a blast :moped:!! Someone posted to remember to put your head back, very true! You FLY out of there, VERY fast...but ohhhh so fun! :cool1:

Been to WDW numerous times around when RnR and ToT opened and thereafter. Didn't get up the courage to ride either until this past August, then have ridden each numerous times since.

Find the first 3 seconds (the acceleration) of RnR nauseating but so far have been able to cope with it and not gotten sick.

It is a great ride! I think with coasters you will can't tell whether you will like it or not until you give it a shot! I also think if you liked Space Mountain you will very likely enjoy the Rockin' Roller Coaster. Have fun!

I am a super chicken when it comes to rides. I'd done SM many years before, mostly because I was confident that at least it wouldn't go upside down, since it was inside. I really liked SM, mostly because it was in the dark.

Last year, my boyfriend "made" me ride RnR. I was so scared, I was practically in tears when it came time to get in (what a nerd!), and when the car took off - super fast - I thought I'd made a big mistake.

From take off, till about halfway through the first loop, I was thinking... "why on earth am I doing this? Why do people do this, I hate...." and then midway though that first loop, I thought "ohhhhhh, THAT's why people do this! This ROCKS!!"

I went on it a bunch more times that trip!

I remember I regretted waiting till the end of our vacation to try the RNR due to long waits and technical difficulties. One of my sisters and I left my dw and other sister outside to wait for us on our last day. Both of us loved it. Now it is one of the first and last rides to do while there on vacation. I usually get a FP for it with my dw's ticket and then get a FP to ToT with mine. I refer to it as the Drop and Rock combo. Not recommended after a large character breakfast. :teeth:

My mother has a problem when it comes to coasters and heights. She really doesn't like Tower of Terror or the drop at Splash Mountain. That feeling of falling and heights are not her cup of tea. Somehow I convinced her to go on RnR after she had been getting a nice tan by sitting outside. Here is what I basically told her....There is a shoulder harness that comes down over your head and the bar stops in your lap, in locks in place so you are very secure in the seat there is no feeling that you are going to fall out. The ride starts out very fast so like one of the posters said "keep you head pressed to the back of the seat". Also to make it easier there is a lighted sign that says "Ready, Set, Go!" and you're off! Take a deep breath at this time and if you have to scream, go for it, makes you feel better. :earboy2: If you have a really strong fear close your eyes to just "feel out" the ride. It is over in seconds. You can't feel the loops and after you have felt it pehaps try it again with your eyes open. This ride is great and my mom absolutely loves it. She will ride ir over and over until my father and I have to tell her it is time to do something else! Relax and enjoy but try it at least once.

Try it you'll love it! My DD had back surgery about 3 months before our last trip and rode RnR, it is so smooth. She had to ride several times. It is one of our family favorites, never miss it! ::MickeyMo

Im a bit of a "chicken" too when it comes to rollercoasters. On my 5th trip to Disneyworld I was bamboozeled into going on Space Mountain. And I giggled the whole way through. I went on RNRC On my last trip. I got to say that it is the smoothest rollercoaster I have ever been on. Its cool. You will like it. I didnt even know we were in the loop until it was over. Lots of fun

A huge rollercoaster baby here!!! I just hate heights. If you put RnRC outside I would probably just die of fear. But, inside, in the dark...oh baby!!!! My favorite ride in all of WDW. Did ToT twice. Never again!!! My dd, 11, finally agreed to try RnRC last August. Now I can't get her off it either!!! When people see all our RnRC photos, they all ask..."Geez, if you dislike it so much, why do you go on it all the time!?" This reaction is due to the fact that on every single photo, my eyes are closed. Why?? I am sooooo loving that take-off. As my older dd says..."Mom you're just groovin' to the tunes!!" Yup!

Until you've ridden this ride...screamin' 'Dude looks like a lady...' at the top of your lungs along with your 11 y/o dd, you just haven't lived!!!!

I am the ultimate chicken of fast rides. I hate Space Mt & just did Rockin RC for first time last week. I loved it & went right back on. It is so smooth that you don't even know you are going upside down. It was over so fast that I was actually wishing it was longer. I refuse to try Tower of Terror & Mission Space. maybe next time!!! ::MickeyMo

I am not a coaster chicken, but I wanted to add my two cents. I absolutely love RnR! It is one of my favorites. I can ride it over and over again. That being said, I will also tell you that while Space Mountain is fun, it is not my favorite. If there is a long line, I skip it. You feel much more secure in the RnR seat, the music is great, and the ride is a lot smoother.

I love ToT ~ even though the feeling of falling scares me, it is this terror that makes the ride so exhilarating! Since I have seen Mission Space mentioned here too, I'll tell you that I did not like it. The spinning sensation was pretty intense. Not a roller coaster type ride at all. More like sitting and spinning rapidly in a seat.

Go on RnR with your hubby. If you can take SM, you will love it!

Ok I was just like you. I wouldn't go on Space Mountain the first trip with my husband until the last day and I screamed the whole time and wasn't looking forward to going back on it my trip last year. Well I did ride it again last year and I really started liking it. So we went to MGM. I rode ToT first because the people on this board told me that it wasn't that bad. Someone even said it was like bouncing and RnRC was much more intense. Well ToT totally freaked me out. I think that we rode the most extreme drop sequence that first time and I came off shaking seriously. Well then DH wanted me to ride RnRC and I kept on putting it off. I even got in line and out of line a few times and then I said, no DH loves roller coasters and I'm not going to be a chicken and ruin it for him. So we're going through the line and all and I'm a nervous wreck. I'm sweating, I feel sick, I just want to get the heck out of there. I couldn't even pay attention to the preshow. Then we get into the place where the roller coaster is loading and I see that thing take off. OMG it looked so fast! But I'm already in line and I really don't want to chicken out now especially since DH is getting really excited and there is a little kid in front of me who looks really happy about this ride. So I get in the car and lower the thingiie over my head. I am in the worst fear I've ever been in and then the countdown starts and I start crying. Seriously crying! the next thing I know we're going really fast but it's really fun, the loops were nothin'! It was incredibly smooth and not scary at all! When I got off the ride I had to buy a copy of my picture because it is seriously the funniest thing ever My mouth is open and you can tell that I'm crying, no wailing! The CM who was at the picture counter blew it up for everyone to see, it was really funny. So what I'm getting at is don't let fear not let you enjoy your vacation. This is definately one of the best rides at WDW and I think you would really be missing out if you didn't ride it at least once. It's amazing how you can be so scared of being scared and then when the event comes to life you realize that you didn't have anything to worry about in the first place!
