Roll-a-Bout Questions

I searched the board and couldn't find anything recent, so I'm hoping someone can give us some details.

My mom broke her ankle 4 years ago. It never healed well and she has limited motion, arthritis, and at present- a stress fracture. We are headed to WDW in September and she assumes it would be best if she takes her Roll-a-bout knee scooter to get around. She is nervous about using an ECV so that's not an option, and I think a wheelchair would be hard on my dad's back, pushing her around. She also likes independence (like anyone else!).

Her concern is rides. What does she do with it on rides? Do she fold it and take it along or does it get placed with wheelchairs? She can do limited stairs in queues, such as TSMM, but what does she do with it then? We could certainly fold it and carry it for her, but if we don't take the wheelchair access, will they still have a place to store it? She doesn't want to leave it with strollers. What's the overall policy for folding mobility devices like this?

Thanks in advance!

She would just follow any instructions as if she were in a wheelchair. If there is an alternate entrance she (and the rest of the group up to five people) would automatically be allowed with no need for a GAC.

If both Load and Unload are at the same location, it would be parked with the wheelchairs. If they are in different locations, she would leave it at Load and it would magically be waiting for her at Unload.

And for TSMM, she would go to the disabled access just before the stairs; there is a parking area right there for wheelchairs and ECVs and she would not have to do the stairs.

I've actually seen quite a few of those knee walkers in the parks.
Any mobility device gets treated the same as a wheelchair going thru the lines to the boarding area, so her knee walker would just get parked with the wheelchairs.
If the boarding and unload areas are in different areas, it will be moved or her.

There is a ramped bypass area just to the right of the stairs that guests with mobility devices or who can't do stairs need. The ramp leads to a dedicated boarding area for those guests.
The mobility device will be left in that area after she boards.

So, you don't need to worry - it will be handled the same as wheelchairs.
