ROL- FP vs Dining Pkg vs Standby

Hi friends.

What is the best way to go for this?

Think I'd prefer to do standby but worried I may not get in.

How far in advance do you need to arrive for each of these options?

Does stand by frequently close due to volume?

We did FP+. We got in line a few minutes before the gate opened to let FP guests in.

The reason we did FP+ was that we weren't getting into the park until afternoon, so less need of a 4th FP, and with Irma around, we weren't 100% sure what our party size would be - which would have made the dining package more difficult to coordinate. If I needed the 4th FP, I would have probably booked the dining package over doing standby.

Our experience was during the week following Irma, so I don't think my observations regarding standby would help much as crowds were very low. The theater still had some empty seats for our show, and I am sure that is not normal.

Here's our decision process. Sorry, IDK wait times.

We opted for a FP for a few reasons. This is a new show for us so I am curious to see it and I don't want the uncertainty of standby.
We had a short visit planned and wanted to be sure to get in and see the show on our single AK day . Also, the number of shows/rides that we wanted to FP were few as we have been to the AK frequently in the past. If you go often or have a longer visit and will have multiple opportunities to try to see ROL, then standby would be a more viable option.
FWIW, If I weren't using FP+, I would most likely do the dining package, as I like to ensure any shows/rides that I can (and that way I would save a FP+ for another attraction, if desired).
