ROL FP+ question, please help

I'm at 57 days out from my trip. I already secured FP+ for my AK day and now they announce ROL will be open. I have a party of 7, we are scheduled for several different rides. My goal is to remove some of the names from some of the rides in preparation of having 7 eligible riders for ROL when the fp availablity show up. Is this possible? I know I can modify an experience, but since there is no ROL option to choose yet, what would be the next step? I know I've read on this board never to cancel, is that still true. Should I just cancel the whole day, start picking my rides and keep 7 people unassigned until ROL fp show up? Thanks for all your advise, I really need it.

Are there any FP+ attractions in AK that no one in your party currently has a FP for? For example, if no one has a FP for Festival of the Lion King or It's Tough to Be a Bug, use the Modify FP option to move everyone from one of their current selections (whichever one(s) you're willing to give up for ROL) to one of those shows at the same time. Then you will have everyone together and ready to modify again when ROL FP becomes available.
