2 hours 😭. Im guessing the bus would have been quicker?
I’m sure it would have, monorail had to wait 3 trainloads before we got on, then transfer at TTC, and then deal with Halloween party at MK go the long way around the MK loop to get to BLT.
I just didn’t think it through before I chose monorail over the bus… my only real thought was monorails hold more so that’s what I picked.

Missed mobile ordering food from contemporary by about 5min... Way off topic, but there really should be at least one place in each of the 4 areas to eat after parks close.

Contempo Cafe used to stay open until 12am and Gasparilla and Captain Cook's were both open 24/7 pre-COVID not to mention room service šŸ’”

I would’ve chosen monorail too. I appreciate the post since we will be staying at BLT in Feb if my BW waitlist doesnt come through.

I had that happen to me on more than one occasion! It took years until I figured out a better alternate route: Take the Wilderness Lodge bus from MK to the Lodge. Get off and take the next Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, or Springs bus that arrives to the Contemporary. It's MUCH faster than the monorail.

For those of you who are not aware, the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge share buses for the non-monorail parks. And Wilderness is always the first stop. Just make sure to ask the driver in case for some reason they are not stopping at the Contemporary before heading to the next park.

We were coming from Epcot, but same thing we could have taken the bus and I’m sure it would have been much faster.

Had a similar experience last week at Epcot…
We left at close and decided to take the monorail instead of the bus, 2 hours later we arrived at BLT. :(
I thought they only add a bus from Epcot to the monorail resorts if the monorail is down? So unless they changed that, your only option would’ve been monorail anyway (well of the normal routes). Probably doesn’t make you feel any better, but it was mostly out of your hands šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø lol

I bet you could bus to Wilderness Lodge in this scenario, then to Magic Kingdom and walk back. Or Uber or something.

No that’s for sure, I was just sharing of the ā€œnormal routesā€ but not everyone might realize you could do the resort/park hack. And I imagine most wouldn’t do that anyway if the monorail is available because they wouldn’t really know that the monorail was so backed up it would take so long šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Last week I took the park to park bus from AK to MK and we waited more than 45 mins for the bus. And even though I knew the whole time I could jump on any bus and could’ve taken their resort bus to MK or better yet, hop on the contemporary bus and just walk over, it was one of those things where we were like it should be coming any minute I know it we waited so long, any minute…rinse and repeat šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø You start taking the long way without realizing you were on that path.

Whoa so Epcot to BLT is Monorail only?

I believe so. Unless otherwise noted or if the monorail is down. Same with VGF and Poly. Monorail resorts are only really convenient for MK and considerably less convenient for all other parks. Well, poly isn’t too bad if you walk to the TTC and don’t go through the full loop or have to transfer. I love those resorts because the vibe of the area is so good but I know going to any other park is a bit of a pain, marginally so and still worth it, we’re in Disney after all, but still.

Maybe a hot take? I think Riviera is the best located and has the most convenient transportation (I didn’t say best, I know many aren’t a fan of the skyliner) of all the resorts. Skyliner to 2 resorts, pretty centrally located between all the parks, doesn’t share a bus with any resort or have an internal bus loop, and it has a covered walk way for all transportation options. Can’t walk to a park but it’s pretty great otherwise. I’m sure that statement will wake up the chat and have a lot of disagreement lol

We have BW waitlisted for our trip but we are currently at BLT and will be visiting all 4 parks. Hopefully 2 hours back from Epcot is not a frequent thing.

For some reason the night buses at kidani take forever, i complained to the front desk because we were going to miss dinner and they called and paid for an uber for us. We waited and the time kept going up and up I wonder if it ever came, this was to disney springs

2hrs? No, I don’t think it’s a common thing. But I’m curious if there’s an updated average time between monorail resorts and Epcot. Feel like it used to be around 25-35 mins but I’d say it’s easily 45 mins to an hour regularly now. At least that’s been my experience over the last year or so.

Thanks. I need to up my stalking DVC slots game and try to get BW it seems.
