You guys sound very organized about your vacations! :goodvibes That must be so fun to have all those different resorts to play with!
Except that we will probably never get into your lovely home resort, so it's all relative

scootert -- $82 - $13,284-162-BWV-Dec-132/'15, 162/'16 - sent 6/16, Did not pass ROFR 7/13

Broker said Disney has been aggressively buying back BWV in the last week. We're the seller - sad because we were selling to family members.
Oh no I'm so sorry! Ours was sent 7/8 (for BWV) and ours is a small contract with just 50 points so I'm sure they'll buy ours back too :(

Probably not-I think you listed that you are paying $120 a point-since Disney has to take the same deal you agreed to I would not think they would take yours. There are many larger contracts to be had out there for much lower prices per point. The one they ROFR'D was $82 pp which they can turn around and sell presumably to people on the wait list immediately for $155. That's a pretty good profit. Buying back at $120 to sell for $155 is probably not worth the effort for them especially since your contract is missing some current use year points-Disney would have to free up some of their own points to make the contract whole or wait to the next use year to sell that contract as they must sell contracts with current use year points. The only way I think they would take your contract is if they needed your specific unit number to make some larger contract (ie they had already ROFR'D another contract and after selling points had some left over that they needed to add to to fill another waitlist)

FWIW we were on the wait list to buy from Disney and looking at the resale market at the same time back in late November/early December. I know for a fact there were contracts that went to and passed ROFR that met our request on the waitlist but they did not buy them back-we passed ROFR on a 60 point contract the first week of January for $94 pp-at the time they were going to charge us $125 pp direct so it is a very similar situation to yours (plus our contract had all current use year points remaining).

I think you should be fine. You're price per point is much higher (as they usually are for very small contracts) and as the previous poster said, there's not as much profit in it for Disney.

I suspect ours was a combination of the price, number of points and timing. I think if we'd been a couple of weeks earlier it would have worked. While our family is disappointed, it does give them other options to consider, so it's all good.

tjslat---$76-$12,160-AKV-Dec-0/'14, 94/'15, 250/'16, -sent 6/19, passed 7/13

Very excited to get a new batch of points -- we had 100 at AKV to start, but this brings us up to 260. Plus, in a nice little twist, the contract closes on September 6, which is our wedding day, so my bride is getting a great wedding gift!

That makes sense- I didn't think about us only having 30 points for 2016. I'm hoping you're right! This is our only way to become DVC members so we are praying it works out!

I think you are even more certain to clear ROFR-I misread and thought you were only missing 40% of your current use year points but are actually missing both the current use year and 40% of the next use year-I really can't see Disney taking that back-there really wouldn't be enough profit for them

Yes, the seller borrowed all 50 points from 2015 plus 20 from 2016 so we have 30 for 2016. Luckily we only plan to go to Disney every other year (which is why we bought such a small contract) so we'll probably just use the 30 from 2016 next December and borrow all 50 points from 2017 to stay 1 week in a studio. Then in 2018 we'll use all 50 and borrow 26 from 2019 and so on. I'm sure eventually we'll want to add more points but i'm just starting out (i've been out of college for a year and working as an RN for a year) so i'm still saving money and learning to be an adult ;)

Passed!!! Very Excited!

Hip hip hooray!!:jumping1: Congratulations! I wish there was a way to figure out the rhyme or reason of ROFR order (or estoppel or closing for that matter!). We sent our contract to ROFR on 6/14 as well and got word a week ago that we passed (7/10). On our last contract, tons of people with our same date of sending passed ROFR before we did. I wonder if they divide them up by home resort or just in date order or ??? Whatever the case . . . . congratulations!!!! Now you know it is yours!!:dancer:

Sorry I haven't been around this week. we've been very busy at the house :) everything is updated now. If you notice a mistake please tell me

:( i'm sorry to hear. That's a bummer considering you were selling to family

We are in Toronto, so flights to the US are really pricey all the time. It means that we have to plan up to two years in advance and plan to take anywhere from 7-14 day trips each time, so no weekend getaways. That length of time eats up points quickly, even in studios. My mom is coming for two trips this year, so we are getting one-bedrooms for our two winter trips, then a studio for SWW in May. 2 trips a year has been the norm, but we were previously going to all-inclusives in the Caribbean in February every year and for the first time are trying WDW at the same time, so we will see how 3 trips this year goes. Hopefully no burnout, but ask me after next May. Our 6 year-old will have strong opinions, I'm sure ;).

We bought enough points on each contract that half of each will pay for the MF every year (we rent them out), and we look at where we want to stay for the upcoming UY for each resort so we'll know whether we should rent out, bank, or leave be the points from each resort. There are 3 different UYs so it's not that bad. Hubby made me a spreadsheet so I can plan to my heart's content lol. If the rental market tanks, we made sure that we would have enough annual income to pay the MFs and would have some great vacations, so we've been careful in purchasing. I just didn't want to play the waiting list game for 7-month availability for places like VWL at Christmas, Concierge at AKL, BLT for the Christmas Party, or BWV for walking to DHS during Star Wars Weekends or the RunDisney events, so we diversified.

We bought into so many resorts because we literally bought where we wanted to stay for BLT, BWV, AKL, and now VWL, but OKW is just for cheap points to use to stay at places like Aulani, where we're going for the first time in 2017 if all goes well. We haven't stayed at OKW yet, but I'd like to!
AH! you just wrote what I have been thinking. I'm from Ottawa and we usually drive down but go at least once a year. We recently purchased our first contract but I can see many more in the near future. given I have 4 kids and would love to give each of them the joy of Disney for many years. I have been thinking of doing just that. we bought at BLT but thinking of never really using that resort as it's not my favorite but it was too good of a price to pass. what we really want is AKL and I'm thinking of renting BLT to pay for maintenance fees of both places for now and later move to the same system you spoke about LOL

I will be amazed if Disney takes this contract back. they don't seem to buy many stripped contracts lately.
