Here's my intrusive thoughts popping in while I play the rofr waiting game: Have you ever had regrets about your contract & hoped it wouldn't pass ROFR so you could try again? I'm happy with the points, place, and price of the contract I'm waiting on. In hindsight, however, I really wish it wasn't stripped. Don't get me wrong, I'll still be over the moon happy to get my first DVC contract if it passes, but I know I'll be itching to use it. That's all :magnify:

I got a fire sale deal on a BRV contract in 2020. But I was wondering if I really wanted a second use year. So I was on the fence about ROFR. (If it got taken I wouldn't have to mess with another use year). But I got it, and am glad I did.

We had a bit of this on our contract that just passed. While waiting for ROFR we were thinking about what our plan B would be if it were taken. IMO, our plan B was a bit more “fiscally responsible” so in some way I was thinking that would be better for us. However, the contract that passed was at an amazing price so we were super happy when it passed. But I think it’s good to have a backup
Plan that you are comfortable with (or even excited about)!

No, by the time I jumped in I was ready to get the party started. Besides, if you add in the time it’ll take to go through ROFR a second or third time & then add in the time it’ll take for closing + DVC creating your membership + DVC loading your points, your contract will have aged into no longer being stripped 😂.

Yes because I knew if after the 3rd time I didn’t go through I was going to buy direct. I was way too impatient to try again and at the time there was no OKW E out there and that’s what I wanted.

Well I'm a weirdo who was looking for a 6 month delayed closing so I could get the cash together lollll

Yes, I had a major wobble on a contract that we’d agree to purchase at Poly back in Feb 2020 (just before the world turned upside down). It was for 275 pts had a double load of points for Dec 2019 and we had a price of $143 pp (it’s listed on the relevant ROFR thread). We got through ROFR just to my dismay as I had major cold feet by May 2020. We ended up pulling out. Do I regret it? Not at the time, as it was the right financial decision for us especially as the pound had plummeted in value (we are based in the UK). Now looking at the price Poly is selling for I do wonder if we made the right decision.

Yes, just recently. We were on our 4TH BCV contract, with 3 already being taken. We found an international seller BCV contract and got an accepted offer much lower than the 4th contract still in ROFR. We know there was a possibility that we could have 2 contracts, but the 4th one was taken and we passed on the 5th one, with a much better price per point. We closed on that one last week. We currently have a 6th contract in ROFR, international seller, same uy, fully loaded at even a lower ppp than it 5th. We do want the 6th one though.

Yes! I am only a week into ROFR and I am regretting not going direct! I always knew I wanted direct points but didn't want to fork out the money for 150 direct points all at one time. So my plan was/is to buy a small resale contract and then add on direct points, 50-75 at a time until I reached "blue card" status. This waiting and knowing I am no where near the end of getting points from this resale contract is torture!!

This is what we are in the process of doing. Just passed ROFR on a small SSR contract and waiting very impatiently for closing documents.

Yep! Currently in ROFR in a contract I bid on a whim for a resort I want but not in my same use year. If I was patient I could have made an offer on a couple I see now. Don’t think it will pass though because it’s below avg price. Hopefully I’ll know in a week or two.

Yes - addonitis hit hard last year after buying direct. We wanted multiple home resorts for 11 mo booking window. Our 4th resale contract at CCV was within 7 months of becoming DVC members and I was hoping it would get taken at $163pp, but we made it through ROFR - 4 for 4 actually. In hindsight, I should have been more patient:
  1. AKV was a good deal then and even better now. Stripped 180pts for $107pp. Bought for husband since he wasn’t sold on RIV originally, but he absolutely loved our welcome home stay in December.
  2. Should have gotten more PVB points - loaded 75pts at $175, but 75pts doesn't go far and am already borrowing.
  3. Should have waited for VGF2 direct sales instead of jumping on a small 55pt VGF contract at $175pp on a whim.
  4. Haven’t used CCV points yet and not sure we “need” them. Will book 1BRs there (studios are too small), but home resort priority is needed for December trips.

Funny you should ask...

I gave up my house hunt because it's been nuts for a year now, but I just saw a couple of houses in my area that are actually affordable(ish)! I live in SoCal so that says a lot.

I'm 3 weeks into ROFR and secretly praying I won't get the contract. But I made my choice and when I get the contract (fingers crossed) I'll know I'll be excited.

Yup. We realized after a small 2042 OKW contract was predictably ROFRed that we'd rather have a resort with dues closer to those of our current home, VGF. Well, I should say I predicted it'd get snatched; DH thought it might squeak through.

We're only looking to add SAP "sleeping around" points so didn't care much when that one got eaten by the ROFR puppy.

Currently ROFR-waiting on a small BWV contract. It may have a better chance as the price is a bit higher than average. If it does go bye-bye, we'll just try again. No big loss for us.
