This may have been answered in the past but has anyone seen a pattern from Disney of what type of resales in which they will exercise this option?

1) prices well below average
2) any price, if they have someone on the waiting list for it

Nobody really knows. If you look at the ROFR threads, you'll see cheap contracts make it through that surprise all, expensive contracts get taken that make no sense.

Understanding there is a waitlist for VGC and BLT of substance, not very many contracts get taken even there. Now, you have to match the waitlist use year and # of points, but still.

It appears to be very loosely tied to price and demand - but not clearly.

Thanks for your responses. I knew price was one reason but was concerned if Disney can blacklist you from purchasing a resale contract if the topic of resales comes up during a presentation and they know you might be interested in pursuing that route

No. We did 3 direct purchases between 1999 - 2010 followed by 3 resale purchases 2011 - 2014 (that acceleration has to stop).

In none of the resale purchases, as an established owner who has willingly purchased direct multiple times, did we even hear from our guide much less have any ROFR issues.

Our 2nd resale followed actually proactively reaching out to our guide to understand what the waitlist looked like and how long the wait may be. We just happened to see what we were looking for appear on the resale market.

We do have a very relaxed hands off guide. Some don't like the lack of attention - we're just fine with it.

Anyway, no, ROFR isn't based on if you're on some sales list or if you've attended a presentation and they want to stalk you for a purchase personally, etc.
